If it does make it into a semi production run. I would buy 2 of them. One for the each Mosin that i own.

extended magazines only make sense on guns that don't have the convenience of the stripper clip

I think the guy might, because it has generated TONS of interest on CGN.  At least, in the official thread about this.

Either way, this is pretty neat from a tinkerer's POV.

While the Mosin may have a stripper clip bridges, they are a model known for having "issues" with stripper clips, and my example is no exception.

Hence I thumb rounds into the magazine one by one. But you will notice that the SMLE has a 10 rd mag and takes stripper clips (that actually work!). A Mosin with one of these mags could become known as the poor man's SMLE due to the low cost of the rifle and ammunition. It would be a very, very cool range toy.

So if I'm understanding the design of this mag, you pull the floorplate of the regular mag (yes, I know it's extremely easy) and clip the extended mag to the bottom of the factory mag?

My goodness, that is bad-ass.  The extended magazine breaks up the otherwise ugly(IMO) appearance of the Mosin.  If these wind up going for sale, I will be forced to buy an $80 J&G Mosin!

Won't the stripper clips be OK if you load them so that there is no rim-lock?

We've talked about this before. Even loading the rounds "correctly" and using the "quality" stripper clips issues are still experienced by many. From what I know it is a limitation of the rimmed cartridge and not much can be done about it. Some people have good luck with them, others not so much.

While I appreciate this as a "just because" sort of modification, I have no desire to upgrade my Mosins to 10-round capacity. My M-Ns are not serious-use guns, and as such I can limp along just fine with the stock magazine.

Cool idea, though.
