Norma brass questions
« on: April 01, 2017, 09:34:51 PM »
I got my 223 AI rifle from the gunsmith. I bought a couple hundred rounds of the tac-223 fmj ammo. I figured it was going to be good norma brass. It fire-formed well and resized fine. Then, after loading it as Ackley ammo and shooting again, it sticks in the sizing die hard and the rim pops off with no excess pressure trying to extract from the die. Is norma brass really soft? Or is this stuff cheaper than the regular, unfired reloading brass? I'm kinda at a loss.

Norma is usually good quality brass.  You might have gotten a bad batch but I wouldn't bet on it.  Did you get any signs of excess pressure when you fired your loaded AI ammo?  Carbide dies?  Case lube?    :hmm
