The Russian Cruisers are amazing after T4 and once upgraded.   They become real beasts.

Working on my Tier 5 Russian right now.

I'm amazed at how many port slots I was able to amass without paying anything. I need to buy something to support the company, but I'm not dropping Tirpitz money, and Atlanta is just a little too expensive for me too. Plust most of the cruisers available for purchase are Tier V, and I enjoy the gameplay just a little higher up.

... and another poor soul hooked on the feeling of going 3v1 and emerging alive on the other side.  ;)

The Japanese destroyers just get better for quite a while. The play style changes after Tier V though. Once my Japanese Destroyer line hit Tier 6 My US destroyer line went from Tier 4 to 7. I just now have enough to upgrade to tier 7... but that would use up 20'000 free XP.

Not sure I want to do that. With that amount of free XP I could bump my Russian Cruiser line to tier 6, or move me from the New York to the New Mexico. or from the Kongo to the Fuso on the Japanese battleship line. Choices choices.

The Fuso is a monster.  fluffing wrecking ball for it's tier.

Okay, we've had a lot of WOWS Talk.  Let's talk WOT for a bit.
WOT is the game that I love to Hate.   No game has ever frustrated me more.  And no game has ever made me so addicted.  I limit myself to only a few matches every once in awhile.
The tanks I love in WOT are as follows:
M4E8 "Easy Eight":  My #1 favorite tank has become the Easy Eight.  It's not the best at everything, but does everything very well.  It's a well rounded tank.  It's armor though, is rather thin and hits really hurt.   But it's overall agility is helps keep you from taking too many.  And it's top gun option is both very punchy and has a fast reload.  I've used it to kill things far above it's weight class and tier.

VK30.01(P):   A painful grind to get it fully upgraded.  But once topped out, with a 100% grew, it's Germany's Easy Eight.  A very well balanced tank.

Tiger (P):  The Porsche Tiger is a lot less agile than the Tiger 1, but it has Armor that allows you shrug off things that would have crushed the normal Tiger.  And it has the same gun as the Tiger that delicious 88.   A great tank for Assault missions or holding a choke point... Just don't get flanked.

Tiger 1:  Fully upgraded, you can see why this got such a scary reputation.  When you are in this tank, at Top Tier - it's a monster.  It can move well, and it's gun is devastating.  At low tier - you will die.  You just will.  Because everyone like killing tigers.  But it's still a great tank that's well balanced.  That top level 88 cannon will make you smile when you take big meaty bites out of the enemy.

Cromwell:  The key to Cromming is to drive it like a BMW driver... Just be the A-Hole on the battle field.   Look for anything that's been damaged and is faltering and sweep in on it and steal that kill, put shots up other tank's rears, and zoom off laughing, only to come back and finish off the job.  The Crom is fast and agile and build of all the obscenities the brits could muster.  It's the Hooligan of the whole British line.

Comet:  This is the Hooligan that's grown up and become a bit more wiser.   It's not as fast, but it's mobility is still very good and it's gun is quite rapid.  This tank is build for harassing the enemy... to death.  But...   You will bounce more shots than you are probably used to, so you have to pick your targets, aim carefully, and then Ninja Vanish.  Luckily, in the Comet - you can.  It's game play is different, but fun.  One of the most engaging tanks.

Covenantor:  Sneaky little bastard.  Put the Howitzer on it and lob wrecking balls over hills from where they can't even see you... Fun times.   And if you don't like that... the 40mm Bofors can really bring the pain to the game.

KV1S:  With the 122mm Durp Cannon, this tank is a hoot.  Kinda painful stock... it seems like you can't damage anything.  But once upgraded, it really comes into it's own.  Upgrade everything and you will realize you are having more fun in it than you probably should.  And with that big fat cannon that 1 Shots tanks that use to haunt you - you find yourself grinning and laughing evil laughs.  It's a good one.  The base KV1 is almost as good in the same configuration, but the Sport model's additional speed make it just serious fun.  On City Maps, you become Jack the Ripper.

I had been totally in love with the FV304, the British SPG.  But in a recent patch they made it twice as large, twice as visible, and completely unplayable and totally ruined.  So... I'm done with it.   I'm keeping it in my garage for sentimental value only at this point, but might sell it and transfer the crew to something else.

I played a bit of WOT today.  And I kinda started to fall in love more with the Comet.   I'd probably bump it up to the #2 spot, and put the VK30.01P into #3.
Oh, and I sold my FV304.  Kept the crew though.  Always keep the crew, especially if they are 100% with second skills.
I might put them in something else.  Maybe if I develop a Brit line of TD's I might put them in there.

Early wows was so much more bearable than early wot. You are familiar with seal clubbing? When a high tiered player plays a low tier ship and murders newbies... Every match in wot felt like that.

I did WOT for a bit but I found WOWS something I got more into a lot easier. Probably worth another look though.

As for WOWS, I'm finding with a good team it's great. With a crappy team even if you loose it can be quite fun to go down in glory. The other day I was on my SC battleship, last on my team, and the other team had a cruiser (forget the class) and a SC class battleship of their own left. Sunk the cruiser and went at it with the other teams SC. Match was a draw, our guns finished reloading at the same time, we both fired a full broadside, and we sunk each other at the same time. It was probably the match I've had the most fun with yet.

Course, then there was yesterday when I decided to try playing a destroyer for the first time and managed to get more torpedo hits on my own team than the enemy...

I've got the New York... But really I just don't like Battleships.  (In this game) As they are too ponderous and the shells dispersion is far too wide.  You are lucky to land even 1 shell will all guns firing.
Cruisers really are where it's at.  Destroyers are the BMW drivers of the game...
I think the best tier for cruisers is really Tier 5.  Even as much as I love the CleaverLand... I think the Omaha is just as good.  But only once fully upgraded.  Starting out it's just a dog... But once you get it going, it's pretty gnarly.
Now, the best Tier 5 cruiser though... Is the Kirov.  The Russian.   Long range guns that dish out lots of damage... good accuracy... good traverse speed.  And you have two turrets up front with 3 guns each... means you can sail straight at them and pound them till you get there.  Then turn away and lets your secondaries do some work and then, just for spite, give them some Torps too.  Because you can.
The Kirov is a great ship.  Second only the Cleaver, but at a tier lower.
Now, the other one I really like is the Konigsberg.  Really long range guns... but only 1 turret up front.  So you have to zig zag to your target, come in at an angle, but what's nice is the rear turrets can swing 360 so changing direction isn't hamstringing you.
The guns deliver the goods   This is my 3rd favorite ship.
Japan's Furious Taco... Furutaka COULD be a great ship.   Everything about it is great.  Save for it's BB like rate of fire.  Because of the single gun turrets and slow fire rate - what could be a great ship is almost ruined.  I know a lot of guys like her because of the whatever reasons... but they are wrong.  No one should like it.  If you like it, you are wrong, and you should feel bad.

She was the Furry Taco when I had bad games in her, and the Fury Taco when she walloped most of the enemy team. She's ike the girl with the curl. Right in the middle of her forehead. It is such a painful change of pace from the Kuma, which is like an overgrown Destroyer, high rate of fire, torps, fun to play and forgiving. Enter the Furutaka... slow firing, slow turning turrets, not stealthy. She really is like a pocket battleship, but once you start raking in citadels with her 203's... changed my mind about her. Which was a good thing as I really liked Furutaka, Aoba, and now the Myoko. Was she good? Oh no. But you can have fun in bad cruisers, and bad destroyers. Battleships though? pain and misery. Too slow, too high dispersion, and too much damage concentrated. I had a Kongo game with 5 kills and 8 hits total. As much fun as that was it is just dumb.

    How to Furutaka

I think the Kirov is becoming my #1 favorite - edging out the Cleaverland... because nothing says "Screw You" like close range torp spreads.
Scores might not be the highest out there - but these were all Seat of the Pants slug fests.   So satisfying.

George, I think you and I need to play together... I need to be shown the way of the Kirov. I can see the potential, I just haven't managed to unlock it yet.

Plus it looks like most of your ships are the same Tiers as mine.

I can't play Carriers.  I see their value, but I just can't play them.  However I LOVE hunting them.

Most of my ships are Tier V with only a couple exceptions.   To play the Kirov, find an enemy ship that is on the outskirts, and sail straight at him, firing the whole way.  HE at long range, until you set him ablaze, and he repairs... then set him on fire again, and then switch to AP when you get close.
    Then pick your next target.

Most of mine are T5 too, but only thanks to all the silly colored Kongos they gave for the ARP missions.  :facepalm

I'm with you on carriers. I just couldn't push through past the Langley. I will let other people enjoy them, while I penetrate, burn, and flood them.  >:D

You mean like this one?  I got two of them actually.  This one... and one that is "Light Red".   :whistle
They are actually really nice ships.  Especially this one, which is basically a fully decked out Kongo for free.  Though I can't understand a word the little girl is saying because I don't speak Japanese.
I really don't get the whole ARP thing at all.  If you took out the Sci-Fi BS, and the Japanese School Girl BS, it could actually be pretty cool.  But I don't see the appeal of LJSG's in everything.  (Little Japanese School Girls)  I find it disturbing Anime's (and some people's) fixation on them.
But hey... A Kongo Battleship with 20.1KM Range of her main guns, cruiser like speed, and pretty good rudder shift... It's not bad at all.

Yep,  having all the protagonists be 15 years old absolutely ruins a lot of anime.

A lot of it is targeted towards teenage Japanese kids...the other demographic that gets into that is kinda creepy. and I'm saying that as someone who has watched anime for a long time. Heck I've even watched all of the ARP show. I love animation, I love ships, the LJSGs don't bother me unless that's all the show turns out to be about.

Nice Kirishma.  :thumbup1 I'm not complaining about my flock of Kongo clones... I'm a little sad I didn't get the first Myoko clone (the T7 IJN cruiser)

Since I got the ARP Kongos... I bought the first German BB, the Tier III.  And I went back and played the New York as well.
Trying to get a handle on being a BB Skipper.  It's probably the toughest Type to play.

But I'm digging the BB's this time around.

And... Because of the hilarity of that video about the Fury Taco... I've been trying to get it down too.  Oddly though, Fury Tacos never gave me problems before.

I got the pink ARP battleship.  It plays differently than the Wyoming and South Carolina.  Having the spotting plane and longer range is nice, but I still haven't got the hang of leading targets at extreme range.

At max range, I'll lead say a BB which is normally 5 seconds, out to 15 seconds.   And use the Reticle that gives you the angle marks... But I forget which one that one is called.  It's in the Graphics Settings...
So when a ship is angling on you... you can find that angle to gauge the lead time and where to hold... and then give them a Salvo of Love.
