I was at a trade show recently, and one of the attendees stopped at my booth. He had long hair and 'rock star' sun glasses, so I told him he looked like a rock star who just stepped off the bus, and was trying to hide his identity. He looked at me and said, "I prefer the term 'musician'."

We talked, and apparently he is the vocalist for this band. He proceeded to b____ about not making enough money on tour. (He had just got back from a European tour.) Watching the video... I know I wouldn't pay to see that live.

That wasn't awful, even if it isn't my preferred type of music.

It's to my understanding, across the board, musicians that are starting out make crap for money. The joke is they bring thousands of dollars worth of equipment, hundreds of miles, to make 10 bucks.

No, not a beginner. Supposedly he has been with them for 25 years. The business used to be more lucrative, but now they struggle to break even. I don't know, like I said, I don't think it worthy of my money.

While I've not heard of them previously, I felt like I was back in the eighties while listening. I "grew up" on that style of music and frequently find my Sirius radio on Hair Nation. Would I buy their album? Probably not. Would I change the station if they were on? Probably not.

Since the new Lorde track has already been posted above I'm going to make mention of this cover version of a well known song I found on YouTube. Ever since finding out there was a full length version I haven't been able to stop listening to it.

Frankly the only way I can get it out of my head is to listen to the full 'San Diego Song' or 'Most Offensive Christmas Song'. Neither of which I'm going to post here for reasons of simple decency.

They ARE pretty good.

Only music video I've ever seen with fallen dogwood blossoms accumulating on the hood of a pickup truck as the music plays. Sort of a country haiku trifecta there IMO.

... Ok, pretty much all their music is folksy and heartfelt.

As is typical fashion for me, when I work the Appalachian strings out of my system, then I go back to hip-hop. The, uh... "depth" of curent hip-hop makes me appreciate the blue grass goodness that much more when I do go back to it
