Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

Glad you liked it! Here is one more good one. Not sure if it's true, but I heard that back then, while they were a little rough around the edges, the older cops held more to the spirit of the law typically. If you shot straight with them, they would with you, but if you made things difficult for them then they would throw the book at you. I've also heard that with some of the newer police recruits now days, some of them need to be talked to for giving out citations to the point of being petty (I.e bureaucrats). The latter I remember hearing from one of our LEO's here.

At about the 6 minute mark it's kind of sad, because I can only imagine what it's like to try to keep minority youth out of trouble. I think that officer did a really good job at 'community' policing and I couldn't help but notice the N frame on her hip  :cool.

Interesting - sort of.  For $15.00 I can buy a lot of matches and a nice waterproof container for them.   :hmm

Yeah, when I go into the woods, I have waterproof matches, a container for same, a couple of disposable lighters, a good flint and steel, a fire piston, a magnesium fire starter, and plenty of stuff that will light easily and burn well.  I don't care if it's pouring down rain, I WILL get a fire started!

A little of the magnesium ribbon I picked up at a garage sale will light just about anything else on fire once you ignite it.  Just don't look at it for long or you'll cook your retinas.

Had a high school chemistry teacher who had spent his formative years in the OSS during WW II.  One of the things he taught us was how to make your own thermite.  You needed some magnesium tape to get it started, but once you did, the results were impressive!

(Someone, not sure who, used some of it to slag down the lock on the football stadium, in order get in and detonate a 5-gallon container of homemade napalm on the 50-yard line.  Unfortunately, it also burned down the visitor's bleachers, because it was mixed just a little rich, and blew up instead of just igniting.  Glad I wasn't involved in that, could have gotten ugly!)

Rumor has it that the getaway car was a dark blue(?) VW beetle, between 1966-1972.  It may or may not have had a Corvair flat-6 motor installed.

Besides, the statute of limitations should have expired by now.

(The Corvair motor may have been available because the car it had been in had been "modified" to take a 327/375 Corvette motor, mounted where the back seat used to be. Not that I know anything about that, either.)
