I feel a writing prompt coming from this one.   :coffee   And if you haven't already read it I whole-heartedly recommend the short story by Alan Dean Foster titled,  "With Friends Like These . . . " .

Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

That last video was intense. That was some extremely skilled/lucky driving. Obviously not here in America judging by the license plates and mainly the deadly driving. I want to say Russia because they are crazy as we all know, but I couldn't catch any writing to say for sure.

I saw the after effect of those "bollards" in action at FLETC-Glynco back in 2007. An instructor's angry wife tried to go around a line of traffic and the gate guards rightly hit the big red button. The bollards are under high air pressure and blast up out of the ground in 1/10 of a second to provide a solid line of denial spaced approx. 2' apart. One of the posts was under the driver's side of her van as she drove over it. When we drove up, the van was still on its side and she was on an ambulance gurney. It's one of the major federal LEO training centers in the US and they take security seriously.

there was a high ranking officers wife who blew through a checkpoint at the air force base I lived at shortly after 9/11.
cars stop very fast when you shoot them with a belt fed machine gun. fortunately she didn't get hit.

no one blew through a checkpoint again either.
