Isn't there a story about the first heatseeking missile turning for the sun on it's first test fire?

Are we sure? Only 3 of the 8 veered off right when fired.  :facepalm

Gonna have to look that up...

Speaking of which, I found an interesting series on NetFlix: Cyborg 009...

This is based on a some very, *very* old manga, started back in the '60s.

    Pros:

They didn't do it as a reboot - they treated the original manga as backstory, and extended and incorporated some of the old plot devices into the new series.

         Cool character designs.

    Cons:

CGI animation wasn't particularly polished. The rendering *quality* was acceptable, but the character movements (particularly when speaking) weren't... natural. Facial animation and expressions were pretty bad, too.

Voice acting was a little... flat, too.

If you can get past those issues, it looked like it'd be something worth watching... I found it distracting.  :shrug

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.

Speaking of which, I found an interesting series on NetFlix: Cyborg 009...

I've seen that one on there, haven't watched it yet.  It had low ratings, so I was hesitant to try it.

I just finished Season 2 of Ajin: Demi Human.   I found that one to be excellent.   It is set in the present day where a small number of people suddenly become immortal.  They can be injured just like a regular person, but within a few seconds of death they immediately "reset" and heal from whatever injuries killed them.   They are referred to Ajins in Japan.  Shortly after this happens, governments and corporations quickly round them up and start using them as guinea pigs to test weapons, medical procedures, and pharmaceuticals.    Basically just killing them over and over as lab specimens.

The main character is a high school student named Kei.   Fortunately, he isn't the typical annoying 15 year old anime protagonist.   He's an odd kid that seems like he has Aspergers with a fairly high degree of sociopathy mixed in. He really doesn't have much ambition other than to live a nice quiet life under the radar.   Then one day he is run over by a truck after school and revives in full view of dozens of witnesses.  He initially goes on the run with the aid of his only friend,  but is eventually caught and shipped off to a lab.   He escapes with the aid of another Ajin named Sato, and tries to hideout in the countryside living off the grid.

In the meantime,  Sato starts plotting to overthrow the government and conducts an increasingly violent and brutal campaign of assassination and terrorism.  The last part of the first season and the entire second season cover this.  Kei,  other "good" Ajin, and members of the quasi-governmental Ajin Control Commission try to stop him before he kills a huge number of civilians and plunges the entire country into chaos.

The animation and gunfight scenes are well done and very accurate.   Seriously,  it's like an animated Michael Mann movie.   Just as good as the firearms action in Cowboy Bebop.   The dubbing and translation is also very well done, and it doesn't suffer from the odd disjointed dialog that seems to plague a lot of other anime productions.

It's not the iPad, it's that it's an imgur link... it goes to a page, not directly to the image.  Right-click on it, and choose "open image in another tab..."

Same guy is in this video...

And now I'm smirking about the placement of the play icon...

Right click on it he says... I'd do that with a real computer, but work wants us to support iOS users. So I am"familiarizing" myself with it. Very snappy, very responsive, but oh so frustrating.  :panic

Thanks for finding the video, and yes the play button was perfectly placed. :clap
