I don't even remember if it occured in the book, but in the movie, The Hunt for Red October, the flight attendant suggests Ryan get some sleep.
Ryan: I could never sleep on a plane. Turbulence...
Flight Attendant: Pardon?
Ryan: Solar radiation heats the Earth's crust. Warm air rises, cold air descends. Turbulence. I don't like that.

I'm a pilot, so I can bust that one out all the time. Although, I sleep like a baby on planes, and I don't mind turbulence.

Calvin and Hobbes: Calvin is waiting for the bus when an alien beams down, copies his form, and starts imitating him. So Calvin being Calvin puts the alien duplicate on the bus and sends him off to school in his place. Cut to the principal's office with Mom & Dad. Principal explains that Calvin has been claiming to be a space alien all day, to which the duplicate says:

"It's troo! Taht darn Cahl-veen stole mah spaceship!"
