Looking for a puppy
« on: December 24, 2016, 09:19:02 am »
We are looking for a puppy for our family but that's the background for this episode, not a cry for help in looking.

Our dog is getting older but she is very well trained and we have been discussing getting a puppy to learn her good habits. While we have decided to get one soon we decided to wait until after our tax return as everything but the house will be paid off and that is a goal we have had longer than we have wanted a puppy.

Last Saturday my wife called me and said (rather breathlessly) "I bought a puppy"

Me: What kind? (This is an important question as my wife grew up on a farm and tends to lean towards large dogs, which we don't have room for at our current home)

Wife: Brown. It has such big brown eyes

Me: ...and what kind is it?

Wife: It was only three fifty

Me: What kind? (I'm trying to remain calm here...)

Wife: The girls are going to love it

Me: But what kind is it?

Wife: It's so cute

Me: What. Kind. Of. Dog. Is. It.

Wife: It's a beany baby. I got one for each of the girls since they were on sale.

 :facepalm she got me. :rotfl

In a few days we will have been married 10 years, she has never managed to get me so well as she did on Saturday. It makes me inordinately happy that she nailed me with my own style of humor (which tends to run stronger on my side of the family) and her delivery was flawless. I laughed until I cried.

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

See, at "three fifty" I thought she was gonna say, "...about that time I realized it was an 80 ft tall monster from the Paleolithic era..."
I'm not saying you should use an M1A for home defense, but I'm also not saying you shouldn't.

I'm not sure I understand.  Lots of dogs cost a whole lot more than $350.

Nice.   :thumbup1     And for a Christmas present you don't get an actual dog that you had no input on in the selection process.   :cool
