Anyone know a nice quality multitool available online for under 75 bucks. Preferably around 50? Not cheap imported unsharpenable dangerous chinese crap. Something quality.

I would be immensely grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

I bought a Gerber Suspension for around $30 back in 2007 when I went to FLETC and realized I'd forgotten my other Gerber multi-tool. Its been my EDC tool since. I've used the heck out of it and it's held up great. Most Gerber tools are under $75 but there are a few over that. I've never been disappointed by any of the four Gerber tools I've owned. I've owned a couple of good Leatherman tools but the Gerbers felt better when twisting and clamping down and seemed more robust IMO.

Amazon has the Leatherman Skeletool listed for sub-$40. Pliers with wire cutters, partially serrated knife blade, a bit driver and two double-ended bits, and a pocket clip. Small enough to clip on my pocket with a CRKT M21-12 and still get to my keys in the pocket.

I think my only complaints have been: 1) the pocket clip catches on my shirt tail in my back pockets, and on my car seat in my front left pocket, and 2) the Gerber RADIUS this replaced had scissors to go with it. Sticking in my right front pocket solved (1), grabbing a Leatherman Style CS and sticking that on my keyring dealt with (2). YMMV.

Go Amazon young man! I just got the Leatherman Skeletool for like $33 a few weeks ago, and you can get the larger Leatherman tools for well under retail as well. I have a Gerber Suspension that I like pretty well, and a Leatherman Kick that is good, but the thing I love about the Skeletool is the pocket clip. I really don't like putting crap on my belt when I can avoid it. The Skeletool also has the bit driver with interchangeable bits, so a bit driver extension and an assortment of bits live in my EDC bag. The Skeletool has replaced both my Spyderco Endura and my Victorinox Cadet as EDC blades. I really like it a lot. The Kick is ok. It's a little light on tools considering it rides in a belt pouch, and a little too big to be carried in the pocket loose, IMO. The Suspension is a good tool, lots of the stuff I actually use, but I did manage to slightly bend one of the standard screwdriver blades, and it is way too big and awkwardly shaped to pocket carry.

I liked mine so much, I bought another one for my son. We've been carrying these for 4 or 5 years now. Very handy, none of the tools will unlock while using them.

I've got a Gerber Diesel that I like. It lived on my boot in the desert for a few months. Now it lives in the range bag because that's about the only time I find a use for a multitool.

+1 on the Gerber suspension. I pointed out George's review to my wife and she got me one for Valentine's day '05.

I love it. Beats the snot out of every Leatherman I ever had.

Leatherman or Gerber. Great stuff. +1 on buying through Amazon, prices usually can't be beat and will be in your price range.

I still have and use my Leatherman 'Super Tool' from fourteen years ago. Love the thing and it has sentimental value. As good as it is, designs have gotten so much better over the years. My old S.T. has torn my hands up a few times, that's when the work gloves come out.

Well, I love my Leatherman Skeletool. I use everything on it, but I've never really missed the tools it doesn't have, like the awl, can opener, etc. It's been my EDC general purpose tool for about 9 months and I can't see replacing it any time soon. It also just feels great in the hand, not clunky like most of the multitools I've used.

I've never liked Gerbers, they feel cheap and don't operate smoothly in my experience. Maybe they've improved since I last used them, I don't know, but I saw a lot of examples in the military ~4 years ago.

Leatherman Wave is a nice multi-tool. I believe I was able to buy mine (combined with a flashlight) for around $60 at a Costco.

This. The Wave is my tool of choice and has been for a number of years so I can attest to its durability. The wire cutters could be better ( SOG owns the top spot for that function ) but overall I am pleased. The handle design is a vast improvement over the original Leatherman tool.

I have a Wave, it stays in my wife's emergency kit on her car. IT has EVERYTHING, but that's the problem, its heavy and too many functions to dig through.

Agreed. It is mostly a belt pouch carry item which is one reason its not an EDC item for me but it works pretty well whenever I've called on it.

I haven't been paying attention to the whole multi-tool scene as of late and was out of the loop. Needed to give someone an answer quick and didn't wanna screw it up. Especially since I'm probably the one who's getting it given to me as a gift

Have one of each. The Leatherman stays here in Hilo and is a EDC while here. The Gerber stays in my work bag in Honolulu and is an EDC there. To me it's a toss up. You can't go wrong with either.

I just scored a LM Core on Ebay for under $45. Everything you need, nothing extra, made in the good ol USA and a 25yr warranty with excellent CS. Any LM product will do you proud.

I have a Leatherman and a Gerber. They both stay in the vehicles. I don't think that I've actually used one, but they are nice to have for emergencies.

Ant of the Leathermen, Gerbers, SOGs, or Swiss Army pones will give you good service. I'm partial to Leatherman myself.
