With material on hand I turned out a couple in the garage.  The first one went out the door to a friend before I took pictures.  Here is the second.  It is 5¹/₂" x ¹/₂" x ⁵/₈" made from black HDPE plate turned on the lathe, and 550 cord.  The holes in the end allow attachment of a key ring.  It is very light, with a slim profile.

I like it.  Definitely looks harmless enough. 

I wonder... Is the material strong enough to counter sink the holes for the paracord so they would be recessed? Would look much cleaner.

I am still trying to come up with something that allows the cord to be secure but easily adjustable.  What fits my hand snugly is incredibly loose on my wife's hands.  I have plans to try some other materials, but this was on the shelf.  Took a couple of hacks at a 2x8 with it, and put some respectable dents in the wood without ill effect to me or the stick.

Daylight, next time your at a store that carries shoe lace's try to find some of the stretchy "no tie" laces that are designed for kids.  (I can't remember the name) They will look like tight "pig tail" curls.  They will be ok for the Wife and not be too tight for your fingers.  The finger loop doesn't need to be very tight (I always preferred mine looser for comfort).  If used in a defense situation you will be making a fist with it in your hand, the loop is just for keeping it in place while carrying something like a grocery bag or purse for the ladies (and allot of guys in CA. with a "Murse").  It also keeps the tool (not weapon) in your hand for control holds and grappling. 

Paint it pink.  With a kid's curly stretchy shoelace through it nobody will give it a second look.   

Huey, learn pressure points and general anatomy.  Think of any point on the body that does not have alot of "meat" on it.  Hands, elbow joints, collar bones, back of the hands and underside of wrists etc... Also you can use the tip of the koppo to grab an ear and use your thumb to pinch it.  The Koppo is held in an "ice pick" grip so you can use a hammer fist to strike pressure points or even large muscles. 

A dedicated hard strike using a hammer fist to the outside of the thigh will render that leg pretty much useless.  If someone grabs you, take the point and "grind" it into the back of the hand or underside of the wrist, combine that with a strike and grind and the hand is pretty much useless.  Another great strike is a "rib rake".  Start at an angle under the arm, striking into or below the armpit.  Continue driving the point down the rib cage.  You can see how that would work. 

Everyone knows how elbows, shoulders, hands and knees work.  Use the point (either side) of the Koppo to anchor in by hooking or just slamming it into the joint.  Then use the opposite hand to move that joint in the opposite direction that it normally goes.  You just learned the general idea of a joint lock. 

When I was teaching self defense classes to hospital workers I didn't use allot of "defense terms" I explained everything as "Body mechanics".  You want to move a torso in a certain direction, the arms, legs and neck are just levers to get you there. 

An easy way to find the sensitive points is just take a mini-mag and LIGHTLY tap along your own body.  You will know when you get a good spot.

It was very effective the few times I used it. I pressed hard on a guy's forearm (radial) mound with it to make him let go of his brother's hair and I used it in a wrist come-along a couple of times. I never punched with it though and never slammed the tip into a hand or muscle group. It would be devastating in the latter role
