If you need a good axe.

Just thought I would put in a plug for an old New England axe company- just on a whim I looked them up, was not sure they were even in biz any more.  Snow and Nealley Co.      http://www.snowandnealley.com/     They fit out generations of loggers in the north woods of Maine and New Hampshire. Not many folks ever heard of them , it's one of our yankee secrets I guess... ;D

    They only sell to Retailers, not Direct.  Frankly, that's kinda stupid.  Sell Direct at MSRP, then sell to companies at wholesale.  Hit Both.

    I'm going to get my dad one of the double bit axes sometime towards fall. He's been wanting one.

    May pick up one of their single bit axes, too.


    Now, if I could only get a new bow blade for a Husky or Stihl saw so we can get a couple of new saws...going to have to make friends with a licensed tree arborist, it looks like.

    Bow blade for a Stihl or Husky when we get one. They are still made, but aren't sold to anyone but a licensed tree care/logging professional.

    Don't need one right now, but in the future...

    Oh, never mind. Found one on Ebay. Thanks, though.

    I like the look of that axe.  For some reason I favor a distinct beard on axe heads.

    I agree, it does look cooler.  You are also covering more surface are per swing, so it probably cuts faster, if you can handle the extra energy output long-term.

    JC, have you seen the film Reclaiming the Blade?  If you're into western martial arts, I think you would like it.

    Great movie.  The Two-disc edition has a bonus disc full of short documentaries and training videos in the classic techniques.

    Yeah it is.  My brother worked on it with Galatia Films.  We are friends with writer/director Daniel McNicoll and producer Erica Black.  I don't miss an opportunity to recommend it  ;)
