Here's a clip on the down and dirty of using a knife. From the comment section it seems to be from a movie called "American Soldiers":

North CarolinaBe without fear in the face of thine enemies.
Be brave and upright that God may love thee.
Speak the truth always even if it leads to thy death.
Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.
    That is thine oath.

I like that.  Almost looks like a rigger's ax, but much sharper.  I wonder if I could get away with carrying it in my hammer loop at work.

I like the look of the colored laminated wood.  I don't care for the feel, and the weight of it.

I would like it more in browns, or blacks and greys... The red didn't take right, and looks off in some spots, kinda orangey...

Rosewood is gorgeous, but I think I would rather have hickory or maple.

I love axes.  This is why I want to learn to forge blades.

    Well... YEAH...  :clap

But yeah, rosewood is not the best choice for an axehandle - hickory and hard ash have better grain interlocking... oak, too...

My buddy Mick Strider made an axe about 10 years ago that had a titanium head with a press fit 0-1 tool steel cutting face and a micarta handle that looked like it was made to kill dragons. I just texted him to send me a picture and when he does I will post it up here

I have a real thing for micarta. It's a great handle material.

So Mick finally found the picture and sent it to me today. The head is one large piece of titanium and the cutting edge is press fit 0-1. If you look close you can see the press fit near the edge, it looks like a jigsaw puzzle. This would allow the axe to be light but still have a good cutting edge. The handle was one solid piece of "natural" micarta , sculpted to look like wood. The titanium head was heat colored to give it a pattern. This axe was made for Blade show, either 2004 or 2005.

Another one by Mick, a war dagger that was on the Strider calendar and made around 2003. It was a titanium integral with a press fit Damascus cutting edge and carbon fiber scales. So that is one large piece of titanium, from the ring on the butt all the way down through the guard and the center of the blade.

This beautiful piece of cutlery just arrived today for me to caress and stare at. It's a CRKT Outrage with aluminum handles. I just love the lines of it.
