If they can find him, why can't AQ find this SEAL?

About the most he could expect is some loonie showing up at his doorstep with a gun. Not a CQB trained team of expert killers. AQ doesn't exactly have those. The average person on this forum is probably more prolific in firearm knowledge and experience than the best trained AQ personnel.

I should finish his book tonight and he does protect the identity of his fellows SEALs except for the ones who died in the service of their country. Two of them that I know of. I would say he is legit. As for the logo his Platoon adopted the logo while they were fighting in Ramadi. Sort of a Psyops type thing and as he said it was cool. The Punisher, defending the rights of people, righting wrongs, dealing out justice.  I doubt there will be much problem with Disney, think of the PR they would get taking action against an American Hero with a couple of silver stars, upteen bronze stars.Yup he can use it. I know Corvette Racing uses the same logo on their cars and paraphernalia.

Ventura was NEVER a SEAL. After BUD/S, he went to UDT12 - and when he was overseas, he never saw combat. The guys in UDT were offered a chance to transfer to SEALs in Nam when they (SEALs) were losing a lot of guys, but most of the UDT guys turned down the chance.
When confronted about his "record", Ventura's office confirmed that he had never been a SEAL.
Because he graduated BUD/S, people assume that he was a SEAL - and he just lets them think that.

Thanks for those links.  My father was Navy U.D.T. during the Korean War and information on the U.D.T. is always appreciated; my father was pretty close-mouthed about his wartime service.

He made that sick statement in a SEAL bar no less. What did that PUNK think was going to happen? If I had been one of the cops outside and got called inside for that, i would have referred Ventura to the magistrate at most. if I did that at all. but no arrest would have been made, not by me nor by my officers. There's all kinds of justice in this world and he ran into some of the best kind that night.

There aren't many, if any, celebs I'd like to meet and in person I'm usually reserved and closed mouthed but I hope I meet that bastage one day. I have plenty to say.

I just saw on foxnews.com where Vetura is denying the punch ever happened but opinion is falling very heavily on Chief Kyle's side.

On the Punisher thing, I dont understand it either, but team 8 also adopted a mission and temporary team logo in the mid 90s. It consisted of an 8 of spades playing card, with the punisher logo instead of a spade. There is also a team ring that is the punisher in silver with red glass eyes. With the way most seals dont want to be recognized due to the hollywood-ized hero worship image, it doesn't help to use a fricking comic book icon.

This guy is 100% legit though. As a general rule, someone that tells you they were a seal is a liar, theres a reason they are called the silent professionals. But occasionally you may get one talking with the right amount of Patron silver =) 

Its also great that you guys are doing a bit of reading and educating yourselves on Operation Redwing. Marcus Luttrell had to originally have it published in the UK, and there's a lot that needs to be known about Lt. Murphy (and Saint Michael!).

FWIW, was at the wake in question with Jesse "the douchbag" Ventura and Chief Kyle. But my detailer and I had a plane to catch, so we left early, but can confirm that he was at least at the bar.

I've seen a number of his interviews and this one is by far his best. Seems like that reporter did all she could to paint him as a blood-thirsty killer, but he did a great job with it.

I usually dont buy hardback copies ($$$) but I had a feeling about this one. I'm halfway through American Sniper and it's a great read. I've read all the books worth reading on SEAL's and this is IMO the best and as FMJ said, most down-to-earth and honest I've read. Lutrell's book was top shelf too but this one beats it by a length.

This isn't how AQ works.

If AQ had the ability to get a 'strike team' similar to their Mumbai folks here they would NOT target a Navy Seal.  They'd go after the softest most target-packed area they could find.  If they put as much effort as it would take to find this Navy Seal, they'd go after a politician, a catholic school, or something like that.  But most likely they'd just go to the suburban mall.

AQ isn't about soldiers fighting soldiers. It isn't even about military men 'getting personal' and hunting down each-other for revenge.  AQ is about scare tactics.

Besides the SEAL would probably shoot back.
