I have to admit, I have really strong feelings about this:


Machine gun fire from military helicopters flying over downtown Miami Fl.

But, I will wait for some of you to comment.

Hmmm, not sure what I think of it.

Imagine though, chilling out, enjoying a Miami evening outside when Blackhawks swoop down with their machine guns rocking. I might be a little freaked out.

This was posted on another forum. I don't think real ammo was used. There was a split on the other forum between the use of blanks and some type of electronic simulators mimicking the sound of gunfire.

either way electronic sims or blanks...whats the point of an exercise like that?

Risk Assessment must of been off the charts flying that low at night in a crowded city.... and whats the training purpose of firing at all in that situation, crew gunners need to see where they splash rounds to train....

All in all a WTF moment for sure...

Either idiotic, especially if it was for a MOVIE, or a very disturbing training scenario.

Either way, it should NOT have been done.

Miami is hazardous enough without this level of crap going on.

Someone close to the family had a good friend just get back from training in Mexico, this gentleman was a Marine and freaked out as hell. He confided in our friend (his minister) that they were training for large scale firearm confiscation from the US general population....

My dad is freaked out.

training on Mexico? exactly where on mexico? I'm not aware of any u.s. bases in mexico, or joint excercises for that matter besides unitas gold.

Take that with a grain of salt.

I'm not sure of the region, as for the source, my father was convinced and that is not an easy thing to do, As for the question about how was the training for that... When you have the actors screaming I'm an american citizen, what about my rights, this is unconstitutional, and stuff like that. Its pretty easy to know what they are training for.

Really. Who would be stupid enough to tell a grunt what the grand plan was? It was many years ago, before 9/11, that there were reports of soldiers/marines being told that they were being trained to fight against domestic threats... How is this any different?

The choice of location does make me curious...

I don't think it was for a movie. The TV news doesn't report that and neither do the newspapers.

I know 160th conducted similar ops along I-55 south of Chicago two or three years ago and it was joint military-police.

Ever since posse comitatus was changed by the Congress I have been paying attention to such things.
