Best Burgers..
« on: January 02, 2011, 08:29:59 AM »
If you ever by chance come East to the WTA Ohio Coalition area be sure to check out Thurmans Cafe in Columbus....its a small place but well worth it...it was hard enough to get a seat before Man Vs. Food profiled it...I myself have never finished off a Thurmanator...but it is delicious...and if you do ever make it out here I hope you look me up.

Texas is full of good burgers. When I lived in San Antonio, the best I found was a short chain called Chester's. I'm pretty sure they're only in San Antonio, but they serve up great burgers, great fries, and pretty damn good milkshakes. You can often tell the good places around a military base by how many service members are there for lunch, and the Chester's outside Randolph AFB is always loaded with flight suits.

Another place is Perini Ranch in Buffalo Gap, TX. Very much off the beaten path(about 30mi off I-20 in West TX), their sirloin burger is one of their famous steaks ground into a burger. I say "famous" because they have catered for President Bush a couple times. You can't walk in and expect to be seated. Gotta call ahead at least 24hrs for a reservation. For a place that's 30 mi outside the nearest "city" (Abilene, TX has a population of about 100k), that kind of wait on a regular basis speaks for itself.

That does look good.  But... IMHO the best burgers have New Mexico green chile on them.  Not banana peppers.  I roast 2 - 3 bushels every year for the freezer.

Don't know if there's a Five Guys anywhere near you, but IMO, they have some of the best burgers. Simple yet incredibly tasty and filling.

Actually, scratch that. Best burger I ever had was, I am not kidding, in this little run-down looking lobster shack somewhere near Kennebunkport, Maine. Cannot remember exactly where the place is or what it's called for the life of me, but hands-down the best burger I've ever eaten. And belay the horsewhips: it was on a family vacation and I'm the only one in my family that hates lobster.

In Saugus, CA there is a great place, well 12 years ago, for Hamburgers , Cousins. Big and fresh with fry's that are made from 'taters you pick. Yum.

          Three main things.

#1.  A retro-50's cafe in Havre Montana, Wolfers.  Awesome burgers, great milkshakes. (Good enough I had to clone it into one of my fiction works ;))    Ever passing through, you better stop.

#2. I hate to admit it, it's tough to pass up County Fair Burgers.  Something's appealing about a greasy, over-priced double-patty burger with over-salted french fries....probably because I would only be able to stand them once a year.

#3.   I'm never eating at Wendy's again...... :vomit

Smashburger is utterly AWESOME, and a million time less obnoxious that Five Guys.

    I LOVE Smashburger.

You guys need to either put locatioons or web limks.

I have never heard of Five Guys or Smashburger. (But in looking, I found a Smashburger here in Illinois that is actually fairly close) and wait! this just in, so is there a Five Guys here in Illinois! I had no idea, maybe I need to get out more.

Notice how Outbreak identified his by location?

    No Smashburgers in PA  :'(

T, how exactly is Five Guys obnoxious? I've been to the one near my house a lot, and it never came across that way to me.

Hmm...no smashburgers in montana, but two Five Guys.   Although both are over 400 miles and I have a habit of avoiding Little Kalifornia.

We do have a Fudruckers.  Although I've never eaten there.
