Wired explains how to make a shielded wallet. The concept would work well for larger pouches meant to hold larger items.

I think the first statement in the link-to page says it all. This is for those that wear tin-foil hats.

Unless you have a propensity for nefarious projects (A.K.A. you are a BG) you will not likely need anything like this.

But then again, if NObama gets elected, these may be of use.

Not necessarily, some RFID readers can read from 10-15' away (theoretically some even further).  The more information that gets put on an RFID, the more the need for counter-measures.  Remember that 5 years ago some companies still printed your credit card number on your receipt, and shredders were only for corporations/organizations with something to hide?

Identity thieves are becoming more and more resourceful.

True, but unless you go for one of those "wave it at the register" cards, most of us don't need to be worried.

But then again, since I'm into Ham Radio, I have no qualms about blasting 5 watts of 446Mhz RF at them. That tends to confuse readers for a minute or two.

Ha!

I made a duct tape wallet back in high school -- but I forgot the aluminum foil!

Haha, me too! If you use the 250mph tape instead of the 100mph stuff like the article used, do you still need the foil?

I've seen computer bags that have shielding to prevent data theft...

I'm sure it'll only be the nefarious plotting baddies that get rounded up and put on trains. That's how it happened in Germany, I hear.

Those were the days.  That's interesting, but I wonder if they have a classier looking design because that one looks pretty ghetto/post apocalyptic.

Yup. Just put a tin-foil liner in your wallet.
