So, I am so unoriginal and I was so impressed with the Ogre's turn to the Glock side that I went out and got a G23 RTF2 with the Glock Meprolite night sights......the grip is pretty aggressive and the slide serations really don't add too much IMHO, but its what I wanted.  I sold my M&P40c to pick up 3 additional rounds in what I measured to be only a slight size difference.  Best part, with Glocks LEO/Military discount I (retired military) got the entire deal with the new pistol, night sights and 3 mags out the door after tax for $489.   Grin

Let us know how it shoots.  For a glock, that seems like a great price to me.

should have included a pic....

first impressions (I can't go boom right now, they installed the sights at the store and I have to wait 24 hours for the locktite to set)

Wow, that RTF finish is brutal!!  I grabbed it because it was the last G23 LEO package that they had, maybe I should have waited until a regular G23 was available.  Definitey not going to slip in the rain.  Time to callous up I guess.

Meprolite sites, a bit cautious at first since they are not Trijicons, but going lights out in the basement they seem to be fine.

Taking it to the range on Monday, more info after that...

oh, and I was in the darkness already, got a G22 that I use for steel plates and as my SHTF pistol... Evil

You get used to the texture.  It's not bad at all.  When you get it out and actually shoot... it works perfectly.

Ok I have to throw my new G23 into the mix too.

I love it.

I'll take this 20 round target over the Para target any day. This little thing is great.

Well then, I'll just get a 19 to be different.  LOL  neener

Besides, y'all already have something in .40 so it makes sense that y'all got 23s.  (I'll buy a SIG P229 someday too--I'll just stop eating or something).

Do you guys unanimously recommend the RTF?

RTF is great. Mine isn't one but then I haven't seen one in stock anywhere in the valley. I like mine with or without the RTF.

I am warming up to it (the RTF treatment) I went out yesterday and put 50 rounds of Winchester 180 gr. TMJ white box through it, shoots excellent.  The grip texture is not nearly as irritating to my skin as I thought it was.  Actually, it makes the pistol sit tight as hell in my hand, I feel like I have more control over it.  I am not one of those folks that complains about the "2x4" feel of the grip to begin with, but the RTF definitely makes you take a good purchase on it.

Glocks are ordinary looking if not simply quite ugly.  Yet if you want to carry something that you can absolutely depend on, that can survive the "glock torture tests" with continued accuracy and confidence, you've made a great choice.

Huey148, you do have a fine glock there, IMHO.  Salute!! Cheers

Me too.  Normal Glocks feel too slick now.  My SIG 229 even feels slick now.  The texture can hang on some fabrics, but most have no problem... I've been packing it concealed for some time now and I've no problems with printing or anything.
The ease of carry because of weight and size, combined by the amount of firepower on tap, the ease of hitting... this really is a brilliant little pistol.   I hate to say this... but it's becoming my favorite carry gun.

My thoughts exactly, this pistol fits my hand almost perfectly and with the 13+1 availaible in the mag it offers a lot of firepower for the size.  My friend has always carried his and called it "the perfect pistol" (all haters may insert Kb joke here).  I am starting to see his point.

Couple of questions for you folks since you have been so kind to chime in so far:

Normally I would not consider a barrel broken in until about 500 rounds.  With the polygon barrrel on Glocks does this still seem about right (this is the first new Glock I have owned)

Right now I am shooting about a inch or so low at 10 yards, I assume it is me but does anyone think it may be a break-in issue.

Lastly holsters, I like the Crossbreed stuff that was recommended here but I have also been looking at an Adams holster as well that was profiled and posted on this forumn a week or so ago, any thought? Oh yeah, and anywhere I can find a decent, inexpensive gun belt to use with it?  $60 for a belt seems kind of high.

thanks!

Here's a couple pics of what it is doing on the range, first pic is the first couple of mags I fired from it at about 25' - 30' and the second one is the results of a couple of mags yesterday doing quick aquisition drills bringing the pistol up from a low ready and putting the front dot on target.  I would like to say I only did 2 double tap/failure drills by virtue of the 2 rounds in the mellon of the target, but there was a 3rd round above where the  pic cuts off with.....oops, a little too rushed on that one I guess...

Huey I've been rocking my 229 in the Adams variation on the Crossbreed and for the money I don't think it can be beat.  I don't have a crossbreed but I have the MTAC from COMP TAC and comparing the two side by side, I'll take the Adams.  Not to mention it's cheaper.

Regarding belts I'd suggest an Instructor Belt from The Wilderness.  I think they are thirty or forty bucks and are EPIC!
