http://www.ptable.com/

wow.  I love this.

Okay, at first glance it appears to be your normal Periodic Table, but the first thing I notice is you have numbers on the right, telling you how many electrons are in each orbital.  Next, grab the temperature slider, watch as everything solidifies as you approach Absolute Zero, then heat everything back up and make it all boil.  You can set a temp and let the table go back into normal mode, then click on a 'state' and all the elements that are that 'state' light up.

But we aren't done yet... You can click on groups across the top and get some cool info on the family.

Now check out the tabs.  You have properties right at your fingertips, and can even colorcode the chart by selecting different ones.  Next check out orbitals, WOW, that is great, you get spin and orbital shape! Oooo Isotopes! click one and watch all it's isotopes stair-step out!

Now check out the first box, with wikipedia as the default, and a dropdown box. Of course, great way to get a nice little wiki summary, also ability to get info from some other encylopedia...PLUS you can get a nice photo, but best of all is when you select video, and you get some grey poofy haired professor telling you about it.

Sent an email to the site owner.  Asked him how much he'd sell the site for.  That's how awesome I think it is.

Also forwarded it to my Father in-law who is also a teacher for Middle/High School students.

Now that's just plain handy.

I may be the most periodic illiterate in the WTA family, that to say this, that is awesome!  I have bookmarked the site, now to start my education...

That'd be easy to build.  It's all just CSS and a table.   Little JScript maybe.

It might be easy to build but not often do you get something that is so elegantly simple to interact with, and so well planned out.

Further, getting a bunch of video clips on the elements, that would be hard to duplicate

That's what YouTube is for.  Scrutiny

neener

I agree that the concept is extremely elegant and very impressive.  I'm just saying that the implementation isn't all that difficult (although it would be rather time consuming).
