I ran across a video of this fellow's invention and the web site.
It's a normal looking, one handed opening, knife that hides on a magnetic belt buckle.
The maker claims it's the fasted deploy able knife ever.
It's mighty impressive in action.
There didn't seem to be any reference here during a search, so here's the link for those interested.

It is a good idea in theory but I don't wear big belt buckles and the blade is a little too short for my tastes.

I feel like the Cold Steel AK47 is faster, and much bigger...

So as a knife, I'm unimpressed...

But as a belt-buckle.....

Price tag is a little steep though....

What I like about this is the carry location.  That's what makes it fast.  He didn't invent the fastest knife... he made a holster.  The knife its self looks less than optimal.  In fact, the knife looks cheap as hell.  I'll pass.

I did a quick youtube lookup and here is a link to a video of his, I gotta admit the guy gets on my nerves. A little too self important for my taste talking about invention etc. Like George said he made a holster.

Shows the knife and holster better though and actually makes it better than it looks on the website.

The fastest knife is a fixed blade.

Bingo.

And it still cracks me up that there are so many places where fixed blades are legal, but switchblades aren't (I'd probably find it less amusing if I lived in one of those places).

I never thought about the switchblade thing before but really that doesn't make much sense:)

This is not a new idea. Back in the 70's there was a horizontal sheath for the Buck 110 that held the blade and opened it as you pulled the knife free. Then in the 80's the same thing came out only it was a vertical carrier. This guy reinvented the mouse trap. The fastest knife is of course the fixed blade. But the Kershaw "Speed Safe" developed by Ken Onion (of Hawaii), and it numerous imitators, is as fast or faster than any "switchblade", and not illegal.

I remember that Buck 110 sheath... I think I even actually ordered one, but I never got it.

All that's new is the magnet. Everything else has been done before. The legality is debatable and in some jurisdictions case law will treat it as a concealed knife because of the disguised nature.  Others will treat it as open carry.

The right to defend our lives and the lives of our loved ones is one of the "inalienable" rights our Founding Fathers deemed most precious. Some states have protected that right while others have neglected it. Knowing where states draw the line between your rights and the rights of those who seek to harm you, our family, or your property could be the most important knowledge of your lifetime. Stepping over the line could mean personal and financial disaster.
