The President has a protocol officer just like PACOM does; he made a conscious decision to bow to the Emperor of Japan.  This is a problem, because when acting officially, he is not just Barry Obama, he represents the United States of America.  There are layers of meaning to all this pomp and circumstance.

As Emperor, the Japanese leader does not bow to any one, for any reason, since the Japanese traditionally believe he is descended from the sun god.    The Queen of England does not stand when her nation's anthem is played, because as Queen, it is HER nation and the anthem is being played for HER.  The Pope, to Roman Catholics, is God's representative on earth, so Roman Catholics kiss his ring as a sign of obedience to God.  These are integral parts of the national character and tradition in those respective countries and/or faiths.

Our tradition is all men are created equal, AND OUR ELECTED LEADER DOESN'T BOW DOWN TO ANY OTHER LEADER, EVER.  This is not an arrogant super power thing, it is an American thing.  An earlier occupant of the oval office, Andrew Jackson, took a saber cut as a dirt poor lad for not cleaning a Redcoat's boots, and he later governed a country a fraction of the size of England.  Even the Ultra Democrat hero FDR, stricken with Polio and crippled, would crawl to his feet to shake hands and pose with Churchill and Stalin like a man, and rarely allowed himself to be photographed in a wheelchair.    I highly doubt President Obama gets any of this, growing up in Hawaii and Indonesia as he did.  Again, he has the entire State Department to brief him on how to behave.  He decided to do this on his own.

What's next? An apology for Hiroshima & Nagasaki? ...and NO, I'm not joking, more's the pity. I could see him doing just that. The Senator is an uncultured, classless schmuck.

The bigger issue is that he constantly makes himself (and the US by extension) look week and indecisive.   This is going to embolden those that want to hurt us.  Sadly, BHO's ideology and apparent dislike of what America is/was blinds him to this obvious fact.  He is not acting like a leader; he is acting like a fool.

This issue needs immediate clarification.  Obama isn't bowing.  He bows to no one.  He just has a foot fetish is all...      Roll Eyes

I was struck by the expression on the Empress' face. Mind you, this is a woman who spends her life looking inscrutable, but I'd swear she looked astonished at what she saw.  Not only do WE think he looked like a damfool, but I think the Emperor and Empress did, too.

I'm no expert on Japanese culture, but I believe that the depth of that bow from BHO essentially says "I am far below you" or "I am profoundly ashamed" in the nonverbal meaning of the gesture.  Yeah, that's really appropriate for the supposed leader of the greatest country on this earth.  Gag me.

Emailing him wouldn't do any good.  You'd have to put it on his teleprompter.

We may have a President....I recognize him in that, etc.  However I do not hold respect for him.   Whereas in some instances I would put aside petty bickering, etc, about something of a Presidents in order to have a united front abroad, etc.?

Not him.   Some foreigners I talk to are surprised about "The known dis-unity at home" and are shocked.    I tell them it's the true Americans trying to use their efect on foreign plicy and tell the world that the President's policies aren't everyones  Grin

Obama said he would become president to return respect to the President's seat?    That hasn't happened yet.     It'll be the next president's turn to resow respect for America abroad.

The... mayor of Tampa?

Who's next the Dog catcher of podunkville?

Mr. President, for the love of all that is holy STOP IT!  We already know what a diplomatic midget you are but please sir, stop bowing to everyone you meet.  All you are doing is showing how much of a complete incompetent empty suit you are.

   Scrutiny  thumbdown

I'd much rather have some loose cannon cowboy in office that the world is afraid of, than some bowing, empty suit, teleprompter reading, apologizing liberal in office.
