The day I turned pro.  Shocked
Or, how the heck did that happen?

One of the clubs that I attended for pistol matches, sometimes included a shotgun side match, usually some kind of steel challenge type.
While rapid firing a 12 gauge, multiple times, is not my general idea of a fun day, I decided to try it.
So, I rooted around in the basement for my trusty old pump, that could only generously be referred to as a Truck Gun.
Not so much as one that's carried around in the truck, but more like one that's fallen off the back of the truck.
But it worked.
On the way to the range, I stopped to pick up a box of ammo and could only find full powered loads. Not exactly suitable, but they were on sale.
Good enough.
After the pistol match, folks who were interested, pitched in a small entry free for the shotgun match, with the total going to the top three or so competitors.

The game was knocking down five steel poppers, at distances of 15 - 20 yards, with the single fastest time winning.
Everyone got five tries.
Try number one for me - got to yakking and joking and forgot to load the last round. Four down then, click. Scratch that one.
Try number two - forgot to take the safety off. Lots of ineffective trigger pulling. Scratch that one.
Try number three - going too fast, to make up for mistakes, and miss the last target. Scratch that one.
Try number four - remembered everything, complete the run, no misses, but kind of slow. Lots of shaking of heads and insults. Scratch that one.
Try number five - Hmm, nothing went wrong and it might have been a decent one.
No telling until the scores are done.

I Won! Came in first for pumps and third overall.
Won all the entry fees back, along with some back slapping and congrats.
I won money. I'm a pro.
Never won a single thing, ever again, at any match no time no wheres.
But, it was fun while it lasted.

Der End.
