SunTzu - WELCOME!!!  Any friend of LL is welcome here!

Thanks for the welcome!  I reckon I won't force my friendship on LL, I just know him from another board, though he seems to definitely be good people.   Grin  LL will read that and go  .  LOL.

I've been lurking around a little since getting this link from a friend.
Thought it was time to say "howdy". So, ...uh....HOWDY! Smiley

I see familiar people .....
I'm using the user name Gunsaddles because I'm pimping my stuff - but I'm also known as politenssman on a slew of other forums...... and I am (apparently) a tactical seamstress.

Welcome Mingo and Gunsaddles!  Love the pic Mingo.  Gunsaddles, if you got the tactical seamstress skills, I'm sure there'd be people that would love to talk to you. Welcome!

  Love the pic Mingo.
Thanks! When I first found that pic, the monkey held a Glock...but I carry a 1911, so a friend photoshopped a CDP into it just for me. Cheesy
It's now a "one of a kind". Smiley
On another site I frequent, there was a sort of contest to name that monkey. "Mingo" won. Hence, my screen name.  1thumbup

This site looks great. I'm a 20s-ish woman in Utah with great kids and a husband. 90% of the males just stopped reading. Good.

I love what I've seen so far and look forward to participating in this forum.

There's lots of Utah locals around.  Go to the Gunshow on the 21st? and you can meet some of 'em.

Hello, my name is neil and I am a gun person.  My mother used to say I was born with a gun in my hand and the first words out of my mouth were 'Bang, bang'.  I'm mostly a beat-up old retired fellow now, but I still get around some.

I shoot IDPA regularly but pretty much suck at it anymore.  I'm a proponent of S&W .357 magnum revolvers and the .45 acp 1911. I love accurate rifles and Remington 1100 and 870 shotguns.

I believe in learning as much as you can about at least one subject so that people don't think you are completely ignorant.

I hope to hang around and learn something here. Wink

I've been here for a little while but never noticed this thread.  So here goes.

I'm 42, married, 4 kids and living in Orem, UT.  Computer nerd.

I bought my first handgun (and one for the wife) in March 09.  I now carry a Sig P229 DAK .40 S&W and/or a S&W 642 .38 spl.  Got my Utah CFP in September.

I'm still learning and currently focusing on defense of self and family.

Welcome.  Make sure you plan to join us on Dec 5 at the Provo Gun Range.

I'm planning on it.  I was just up there again last week.   It's a good place to shoot.

I'm hoping to pick up some pointers.

Steve here, "newbie" to the forum after finding you all via a google search for shotgun load information.

Prefer Glocks due to performance/reliability and desire larger capacity than a wheelgun, yet hope to never require such.  However, my fave in wheel guns would be the Ruger SP101, no removable side plate - tough as a railroad spike.  It has filled a holster at my side many a time, and I do dry practice with it as I do the Glock(s).

If I owned some other handguns, or long guns including an AR, Remmington 870, Springfield Armory M1a National Match, Ruger 10/22, etc, I won't admit it.   Hmmmmm

There are likely more "grunt/real world tactical/better this or that" training venues, but the one I've been to and have a membership at is Front Sight.  My wife joined me there recently for her intro to shooting (safely) for a little Two Day Defensive Handgun course.

My hobby is a website, I know I know, but I'll put it here to get it off my chest.  Keep in mind, I'm NOT selling anything!  www.tutswords.com  Nothing better than placing business cards out there everywhere directing people to view such an offensive site!!  It's lilely you'll know after visiting it where I sit on the political spectrum, and how we should all dislike the idea of a person hating our diminishing liberty yet leaving it to the rest of us to "do something"...

Ok, So you all know something now of me but I think I've rambled on way too much for an intro, so see ya around the forum.  I'll spend some time looking through the other posts in this section to get to know some of you.

Hey Steve, how did your wife like the FS training?  Another member on here takes his wife on a regular basis and has great things to say about it.

Thanks guys.

Harm,

Regarding your question about FS and how my wife liked it, I'd say mixed review from her.  (I love it, just wish theyd teach more (any) moving off the line of sight as you draw/fire.)  But she is new to guns and in fact is not a "gun" person at all.  She tolerates me well in that regard and does not mind at all that I am armed everywhere, all the time.  She hasn't even dry practiced at all and has no real interest.  She can pick up a weapon, check it clear or chamber check, and can shoot but as time goes by I'm sure her recollection of such diminishes.  I'm not gunna push her for now, I just hope she is never attacked.  God himself forbid such a thing.  However, if it ever happens I pray I'm there so we have at least a chance...

She had fun at Front Site, it is not "boot-campish" but is serious.  My twin boys when they were 15, at the end of the Four Day Defensive Handgun course, could draw from concealed and put two on thoracic target at 7yds in 1.5 seconds or less.  Not bad, considering they did so safely!

Would she go again?  Only if I went and as part of a vacation again, doubt she'd wanna go for the sake of going to FS only.  Me?  Oh yeah, looking for someone locally who wants to go FREE as I have a certificate for first timers.  My daughter, Army MP, may go when she takes leave next...

Looks like the right place for intro.  Hi everyone, I'm Gary from Alabama and glad to be here!  I am 53 years young so I've been around awhile and enjoy using firearms correctly! Spent 4 years in the Navy (75-79).  I do have a cc license and frequently cc when out and about.  Pretty easy here in Alabama to get the cc, just apply and have a clean record.  I have a couple of interesting weapons that my grandfather brought back from France in WWI.  One is a broom handle mauser that I have never fired, but appears to be in good condition and I will likely try it soon.  The other is a French semi auto pistol that does fire well, somewhat worn though. I carry a .40 S&W most of the time.  Been married 32 years to the same pretty red headed woman and she can shoot pretty darn good.  We have a small farm here in Elmore county that is 73 acres so we have  a good time shooting and hunting deer etc.  Oh and for my forum name, gwstang, I have a '66 mustang that I have restored.  Just finished putting a '90 5.0 HO/AOD tranny in it so it runs very well.  Also have a '56 cheby pickup that I have restored.  Thanks for having me here, Gary.
