Well........ almost a year ago I picked up a Demilled British 2" Mortar... small and cute.. the firing pin was removed and the breech welded up... a 2" hole was cut into the barrel and then it was welded onto the receiver... Fun project.... You can reactivate Demilled Destructive Devices in most States but it does take a little heart and soul.

Thought a few of you might like to see a few photo's of the ongoing process.

Here is a photo after the barrel was cut off and the receiver cleaned up.

I have a chunk of raw DOM tubing that I will have to mill down and thread to spin over the reciever threads... the Mortars use a 28ga shotgun shell to propell them.... Here is a photo with some of the barrel pieces.

I am having trouble deciding if this is more or less awesome than the Recoilless Rifle.  I don't think it can be more awesome.

When you break out the working German 88 I am gonna start stalking.

I'd considered the same thing, but dude, this is a woman who can ensure that our corpses could only be identified by DNA smeared off the forest 500 yards from her home...

Nice! I read of guys who had mortar contests after WWII with Russian and German mortars brought in legally, until GCA '68 ruined it for everyone.
As for 88mm, well, I did happen to see the German 75mm PAK 40 and tank gun are listed as Curio and Relic...

This one is going to really hurt me as its probably the first one I'm going to sell to raise funds for the medical expenses... got the entire receiver functional... right at the point that I need to register it before I can continue with milling out the barrel... got the raw tube but it needs to be contoured and threaded... Just don't have the spare $200.00 to register it..... so it sits gathering dust in its original British transit case...

Going to make someone a really spiffy portable mortar when I get around to listing it... bang head
