One of the questions that has always perplexed me, is how to have a revolver refinished. It is my understanding that Duracoat and Cerakote are less than ideal, (as are other 'coating' finishes) as the 'turn ring' will eventually wear through and look unsightly. Also, the burning powder from the cylinder gap is said to cause premature finish wear.
Of course, neither of these are a problem with good old hot bluing, as it wears quite gracefully. It also rusts quite readily...
I know nickel and chrome can be used to good effect, but they only come in silver - I want black.
The question then, is what is a good black or darkened finish for a revolver?
