Beretta 90-Two
« on: March 01, 2011, 03:14:34 am »
Been meaning to ask this for a long time now, but forgot.
What do you all think about the Beretta 90-Two? Seems like something I'd like in 9MM. I like the features, like the option of a smaller grip (feel they should have included that in the box, or has that changed?), and I like the changes Beretta made. Or is there something I don't know about this pistol and should be aware of? Saw some some new ones locally for what I feel is a good price. Can't afford it right now, but perhaps someday.

When I first saw one I was like "WTF?" but over time it grew on me. So much so that I have one on my list of 9's to purchase. I'd still want to install the D spring to improve the DA pull. But I'd do that to the 92 Inox that I want as well.

Ugh, I have three Beretta's on my "list". I want a PX4 too.  4 if you count the Stoeger Cougar. :devillol

I have to admit my own bit of Beretta lust leans more towards the CX4 and the 92fs, since they can swap magazines.

*sigh*  They're just... a pretty combo.

The 92, a large size 9mm, but its stable, low recoil, accurate and reliable.  Not a conceal piece, but a great shooter.

    For most people. ;)

I've carried a Taurus 92 just fine. Though I'll admit the larger full sized pistols are easier to hide in the Fall and Winter months.

I also used to conceal an AMT Longslide/PO frame in a shoulder rig, SIG 229S on my hip and a .50 Grizzly w/bushing comp in a crossdraw. Compared to those, the 90-two is almost dainty.

Oh, I didn't carry all those at once.  :devillol

I've read up on the Taurus 92 a lot, and would consider it a worthy alternative. I've read that they can swap mags with the Beretta, and possibly also the barrel (must be nice to buy a factory...). Fact or fiction?

I particularly like the much lower price tag - I've seen the Taurus 92 out the door for $430 +tax, vs. $6'n'change for the Beretta.

I prefer the frame mounted safety. I carried my PT 92 condition 1. Pressing all the way down on the lever de-cocked it. Condition one was the way to go as the DA trigger left a lot to be desired.

The mags they use are are close but not quite. They will not interchange without modification. But Mec Gar makes some of the best mags for them both. And they are the same price.

Interesting.  I haven't seen this before.  Kind of looks like a hybrid of the 92fs and the Px4.

I've been drooling over it for about a year and a half now, but I haven't really heard anything about them nor gotten a chance to shoot one.  Very much want to though.

I like them.  We've never sold one, haven't ordered any... and only this last week were we even asked for one.

Cool, sounds good. I like the feel in my hands and it wouldn't be a CCW piece for me. I could if I absolutely had to with the right holster, but it's really not a concern for me. I have other things for that. Around here I can pick one up currently for $550.00 to $570.00. But I don't have the cash for that right now. Perhaps in the future when things are better.

And brilliant.  After all, the VERTEC solved most of the problems people had with the 92FS ergonomics.  What did they do?  Discontinue it.  EVERY other brand of pistol has a metal frame version with a rail.  Beretta has the M9A1... with not much of an improvement on the grip frame.

    WHY?

The 90-Two could have been so absolutely awesome.
