Trigger upgrades for the M&P
« on: March 13, 2010, 11:43:37 AM »
APEX M&P Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit (DCAEK).

Gives you a good forceful reset with a smooth light pull.  I've shot M&Ps with this setup and it's much like my Glock's NY1/3.5lb setup but a bit lighter.  The M&P would be my go-to pistol were it not for Glock.  If I owned an M&P, I would order this and drop the parts in (easy).

That looks like just the ticket for my M&P9. The trigger is a bit mushy and long reset stock.

"And you applied for a field tech at the WATER resource board?!" Me.

I added this new sear to both of my M&P's - one I had done an "internet" trigger job on - and one of them I didn't.

After adding this new sear - I *HAD* to do the "internet" trigger job on the other M&P.  The new sear smoothed and lighted the pull - which allowed my trigger finger to feel the interface of the trigger bar and the striker block (in S&W and APEX speak - or firing pin safety in Glock speak) and how ROUGH it felt compared to the M&P I had previously worked on.

Now both of them have VERY NICE trigger pull weights, VERY smooth - and a more discernible and SHORTER reset.  All pluses in my opinion and corrects the only real minus the M&P series has - which is a substandard trigger pull out of the box.

I noticed that APEX now offers an already modified striker block  which is probably the way to go.

Hope this helps,

cheers

The enhancement kits must be popular as they are sold out. Will watch for more to be made and order one when they are back in stock.

Thanks for the info! I'll be getting an M&P 45c this year. Will definitely pick one of those up!  :clap

I'll see what I can get rolling.  On a topic note, what sort of upgrades can be done by the end user?
I've heard tell that the firing group is easy to smooth out.

Step 1:  Buy an M&P.
Step 2:  Buy this kit.

If my BAG Day gun turns out to be an M&P, sounds like this kit would be worth the additional money as an out-of-the-box upgrade.

LOL, it may surprise you, but I've had a lot of customers call and place orders for the parts kits and tell me that their guns will be arriving later that week.
