Sig P6 Holster Options. What do you use?
« on: January 06, 2009, 11:22:34 pm »
I've found that finding popular brand holsters for my Sig P6 is kinda tough. Sig hasn't made the P225 in years and it seems the major holster manufacturers haven't noticed that P6's are flooding the market.

Right now I'm using a nylon Uncle Mike's Sidekick IWB, which works acceptably and comfortably, but when I wear it all day, I have to adjust it periodically and I want something of higher quality.

Someone just told me about Comp-Tac, who seems to offer every product in their line for the P225.

So, the two questions are:

1. How do you carry your P6/ P225?

2. Does anyone have experience with Comp-Tac products?

I say strong side is the way to go. I have not heard of Comp-tac so I can't comment on them. Galco is the way to go, for the money, in my book.

Last I looked, Galco didn't have any holsters for the P225/P6. I see now they have some. The Summer Comfort model looks like something I'd like.

I have to agree on the Summer Comfort. Very nice holster.

I have two P6's.  For one I use a Bianchi Model 100 Professional IWB holster.

For the other I use a Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack (for carry to work).

    Both serve me well.

I like the style of the Bianchi, but I prefer a slight FBI cant, so Galco is still in the lead.

I have a Bianchi and have grown to not like the thumb break. I love the tention screw and tight molding on the Galco's though. Still in the lead.

I have a Desantis for my SR9 which I've been very happy with and I see they have a lot of options for the Sig P225.

I have a TT Gun Leather holster for my P6. TT has a P225 mold gun and the holster is tightly boned and fits my P6 perfectly. Also, there is only about a 4 - 6 week delay. I also have a couple of Milt Sparks VMIIs. The TTs are their equal. IMHO

OOhhh... I like those. Nice big pancake holsters with a good FBI cant. A friend of mine has a similar holster from HBE Leatherworks that I really like, but they don't have a P225 mold.

Wouldn't the P229/P228 with the square trigger guard have the same slide width as the P225?

Though, the P225 trigger guard does seem very different from the new 229.

I'm using an old Don Hume that was made for a USP compact.  It works pretty well.  I also have a belt slide from a guy that was selling holsters at the gun show one day.  It was his own build and design, and it's nicely made as well.  I wish I could think of him name so I could extol his virtues on this site....

The widths are a bit off. It fit in my buddy's P226 kydex holster but the P6 is skinnier and the trigger guards are different. It's also 1/4" thinner than the P220.
What I need is a gun store with a decent holster selection where I can test fit some.

I have the Minotaur MTAC from Comp-Tac with the standard clips ( http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=95 ), and I couldn't be happier with it. It's incredibly comfortable with the leather backing, and has a bunch of options for adjustment as far as cant, depth, and how tightly the gun is held in the kydex. It also conceals very well. I have worn my full size M&P out with just a polo shirt, both tucked and un-tucked, and it was invisible unless you knew it was there. Its also easy to get on and off, but its rock solid with the clips in place. Only downside really is that, while its not as expensive as some, its still kinda spendy.
It stands to reason that where there is sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there is service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be the maste

I use a High Noon Bare Asset and i have them for a few other guns as well.  Very minimal IWB with a great clip on a 1 1/2 inch belt. It has a perfect cant.  It's cheap at $25.00 and it's a stocking item so you don't have to wait 6 months for it. Mine came in 4 or 5 days.  Here's a link:  http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Bare_Asset/bare_asset.html
