My Glock 19 in Magpul FDE
« on: June 06, 2013, 05:23:52 AM »
We have a vendor on the AZGO whose company is www.tacticalinstincts.com. Brian specializes in Cerakote finishes. He has done work for T and Harm so I took my Gen 2 Glock 19 police buy back to his shop for a coat in Magpul Flat Dark Earth. He does awesome work. Here are the results.

Before

After

There was a lot of tool marks on the top of the slide internally that are gone with the coat. It looks like a new gun!

Teaser alert.
I saw the preliminary coat of T's P6 in burnt bronze and I heard the plans for the finished product. It'll be sick!

Crusader Weaponry has been using the MagPul FDE for a year now and I've got it on my Wife's Glock too.  Great color.  Darker than other FDE colors... Which makes it more earthy.
I believe this color used to be called "Loam".

The cerakote job looks professional.  Very nice.  :thumbup1

How is the Cerecote holding up to abuse for you guys, I'm curious since I'm fairly hard on gun finishes it's something I considered but I'd hate to have to redo it;)

Take care!

The cerakote on my Witness is holding up great.  The gun is steel, and the cerakote was over a fresh park.

On the slide of my Para it is wearing on the left side of the muzzle.  This gun is stainless and the cerakote went on over a sand blast with 80 grit AO.  Perhaps there is a better way to surface prep stainless for Cerakote.

To be clear, it is not flaking or chipping.  Just getting polished away.  I carry this gun about 3X as much as any other gun too, so perhaps I would be seeing the same thing if I carried the witness as much.  But I don't think so.  I think it just didn't work as well over stainless.

Looks pretty good. Mind telling me how much? I'd like to possibly cerakote my M&P a WWII olive drab 3.

He normally charges $175 but I got a LE/ AZGO discount to $140 then he dropped it to $120 because of the ease of disassembly/assembly.

:thumbup1  That snakeskin pattern he posted was pretty cool too.

Cool.   :cool   I was actually referring to a Cerakote pattern that resembles snakeskin from the supplier who did CF 97's .

Cyotesfan97, that is a fine looking piece  :cool. I planned on getting a desert tan Glock 19 but with things the way they are, I was forced to get black  :(. Maybe in days to come I will have to try out cerakote.
