Beretta 92f sights
« on: April 23, 2014, 10:31:14 pm »
I just bought a Beretta 92f for $480 it has about 500 rounds through it with only a few minor dings in the finish. It has the two dot sight system witch I found that do not like I want to change it to the three dot sight setup is this something I can do myself or should I take it to a gunsmith?

The front sight is not removable. You're trying to change the rear sight, right?

Sights are the only thing I regularly take to a gunsmith. It's not so much that they're any better at installing them than I am, but they'll usually pay for the damage they do.

Well if it's like my M9 the sights are exactly the same as the 3 dot sights. .. The 2 rear ones are just not painted in but the rear dot at thebase ofthe notch is. ...Black sharpie and a vial of white sight or model paint will do you. ..

Otherwise for a lot more money you can send your gun to Alleghany Gun Works and they will machine dovetails on it for you.

Yes I want to change the rear sight. Looking at the sight the panted dot is a recessed area on the sight. I saw that Brownells has what look like factory rear sights for $16.50 with red dots. My local gun shop has free installation of hand gun sights when bought from them so I think I will go there and see what kind if sights they have.
