SHOT Show 2017
« on: January 04, 2017, 09:39:19 AM »
Well I have the opportunity to go to SHOT Show this year. Any advice on what to see and how to see as much as possible?

They have an app so you can see where stuff is. That way you can get where you want and not have to waste time searching for it.

If you're taking requests, I'd like to know what MagnetoSpeed has going on for 2017.  I'd also like to hear of any updates from LabRadar along with Annealing Made Perfect (AMP).  Visit Vortex and see if they have any of their Gen 2 PST scopes.  And definitely hit the Sig booth to see if there's any new info on new optics like the Kilo 2400 ABS and the Kilo 2200 MR.

I will try to hit those up.

Some others that I wouldn't mind hearing about is at the Desert Tech booth and their MDR.  They said they would have Production models at the show but won't be shipping till March 2017.

If you see Hodgdon Powder, maybe ask them when we might see more H4350.
If you see Federal, ask them when we might see more 210M and 215M primers.
If you see Winchester, ask them when they will make more 7WSM Brass.

I'm always interested in Silencers so if you see anything cool, please share.  SilencerCo, Thunderbeast, Dead Air are the main ones I'm focused on.

I'm guessing the ATF will be there.  Ask them their thoughts on 41F and the Hearing Protection Act.

Also, at the Sig booth, see if there is any further info on the new Sig P320 Competition model

I have decided to start my campaign to become an IDPA Grand Master
(I know the rank doesn't exist so I am planning to be the first)

    Okay, here's some advice:
    1.  Get the App.
    2.  Make a list of highlights that you Must See - not for anyone else - Just You.  This is YOUR Shot Show.  And it's your first.  What do YOU WANT TO SEE?
    3.  Throw away that list.
    4.  Wander the s___ out of SHOT SHOW, take it all in for Day 1 & 2.
    5.  On Day 3, Make a new List of the things you still want to see that you missed on Days 1 & 2.
    6.  Don't sweat the stuff you miss.
    7.  Forget about all the Catalogs and Brochures on everything... You'll end up humping 40 pounds of s___ you will not need or want and all that info is available online.
    8.  Don't try to fly out the day SHOT Ends.  Wait till the next day to fly out.  Spend that last night enjoying the rest of Vegas and not waiting in lines at the Airport.

Take a look at the new Colt Gold Cup Trophy.  It's a Series 70, will be offered in .45ACP and 9mm, and has front strap checkering and a magwell.  Looks pretty good in pictures.
