A good friend of mine has a 14 year old daughter who is a terrific skier. She's working toward making the Olympics. Part of her frequent training takes her out of state. It costs about $27,000.00 a year for her to be involved in this.
So my friend, who owns a restaurant nearby, decided to host a party to raise some funds. We paid $100.00 each a plate and we had an auction of donated goodies. I missed winning a Remington 870 12 gauge by one #. Rats. I did win a ten lb. box of NY strips and a guided fishing trip on our local river. It's one of the few cold water streams left in America and is probably second only to the Snake for trout. Great salmon fishery and walleyes too. Beautiful scenery to go along with the fishing.
We had a great night. Tasty hors douvres, Great main dish and desert. Tasty wine. Great companionship with a crowd of about 40 folks who are regulars at The Red Anchor. The auction was fun. I dumped another $160.00 in the auction, in addition to the original $200.00.
But, we raised some good dough for a good cause.
