Gay Dance Block Party to Protest Pence.
« on: January 24, 2017, 06:52:37 PM »
By far the coolest protest ever. It was peaceful and the EDM dancefloor music that is prominent in the gay community rocks. I would seriously have to resist the urge to join  :cool.

I might not support the trans community, but I hope that Pence joined in the merriment  :neener.

Quote
Two nights before President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect Mike Pence, and their guests hit the dance floor at various inaugural balls -- another group held a dance party of an entirely different kind.

Hundreds of protesters were breaking it down Wednesday night in the streets outside of Pence’s temporary rented home in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

The dancers shimmied their way from a nearby metro station to the neighborhood, where they rocked out to songs from Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Britney Spears.

Video shows participants chanting “Daddy Pence, come dance,” and “We are here, we are queer, we will dance.” Rainbow flags, glitter, and costumes were abundant.

The party was organized by WERK for Peace, an activist group that aims to use dance as a vehicle for peace and community, and DisruptJ20, which has planned a number of protests around the inauguration.

“That’s right, get ready to WERK it and tell Daddy Pence: homo/transphobia is not tolerated in our country!” they posted in the Facebook event for the dance party.

Pence’s anti-gay reputation stems from his past support of several policies. As governor of Indiana, he signed a controversial “religious freedom” bill that allowed business owners to deny service to LGBTQ people. He has also been accused of supporting gay conversion therapy, and opposing the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

This isn’t the first pro-LGBTQ demonstration in the liberal Chevy Chase neighborhood since the vice president-elect has arrived.

His neighbors welcomed him in November with rainbow flags hung outside their homes to show their support for the gay community.

Pence will not be in the neighborhood much longer. He will move out of the house after the inauguration and head to the vice president’s residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory.

He also wasn’t home during the dance party Wednesday night. Instead, he was hosting the Vice President-elect Inaugural Dinner at the National Portrait Gallery while the dance party raged on.

MTK20 - I was also impressed with the showing of the women's protest marches across the nation on Saturday.  Largest mobilization of people in US history, supposedly. Not a single arrest, and in DC all of the emergency calls were medical.

So what was it, a half million?  It's too badly we couldn't have combined that march with the Trump inaugural session.  Combine all of those left wing feminists with the most die-hard Trump supporters, and then of course, all of the 'political elite' who attended...  And a massive sinkhole opens up under all of them.

Methinks the nation would be much better off.  We could live with President Jeh Johnson for a year, until we could have a sane round of congressional and presidential elections, from regular citizens and the pool of politicians that *weren't* in DC that day.

    One can only wish...  :-\

If they want to protest something, why don't they protest Islam? I haven't noticed Pence executing Homosexuals lately.

I said "across the nation", which counts closer to 3.3 million... I know there were about 63,000 in Atlanta alone...

Oh, okay.  To bad we couldn't get all of them into that sinkhole, as well.  :(

No.  'We' are not threatening anybody, and that needs to be on record.

However, I'm still in favor of an Act of God taking care of everybody mentioned. ;)

No, we are not threatening anybody  :facepalm.

I was hoping the " :P" would be understood as the universal sign of saying: "this sentence is a joke".

Besides, to my knowledge, there is not yet in production a device that can cause natural disasters upon will  :shrug. Although that didn't stop them from blaming George Bush a while back for causing a natural disaster.

No, if mother nature didn't lash out in rebellion at Harambe, then I don't think there will be a SMOD at neither a few feminists gathering, our king and emperor agent orange being elected, and especially not at a group of homosexuals who wish to trance dance out their problems (which are still by far the most agreeable group in my eyes).

To this new, albeit short lived, political/musical revolution; I say Armin van buuren will make a fine bass driven general, even if he is weak with the wubb wubb.

Yes, as Baptists are the main denomination here.

As a Catholic amongst Baptists, it seems to me that while Catholic priests are afflicted with chronic righteousness (which remains steady all year round), Baptist preachers have the acute form of the disease. It ebbs and flows, but once you're caught in the middle of a "flare up", it is a spectacle so intense as to make the chronic form pale in comparison, in that moment.

especially not at a group of homosexuals who wish to trance dance out their problems (which are still by far the most agreeable group in my eyes).
I don't know about 'agreeable,' but they are the least toxic group - when closeted.  I won't say I 'have no problem' with gays, because I do - I consider their behavior to be perverse and immoral - but what I don't want is legislation to enforce my personal beliefs in their lives.

But then they wave it in everyone's faces, and my view of them matches my view of OC activists: They are 'within their rights,' but damn if I don't wish I could push a button and make their foolishness go away.

I would not be offended by the hippy dippy fabulous dance party, but forcing that 'music' on anyone that didn't consent to it is surely a most perverse and immoral act.
