:facepalm   I was SOOO hoping the young man behind the cash register had calmly pulled out a gun and shot that jackwagon in the blue hoodie right in his stupid, ugly face.  Does that make me a bad person?   :hmm

    No it doesn't.

By him successfully robbing that Jimmy John's, it only reinforces him to repeat his stupid tactics elsewhere. Btw, that was some of the clearest HD security cam footage I have ever seen. Jimmy John's must put money into 4K CCTV or something. Most other places security footage I've watched looks like the security camera was a russet potato, with a dusty lens.

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

Actually, the 'suspect' was arrested pretty quickly (I can't bring myself to say "freaky fast")... probably due to either a) the HD quality of the surveillance camera, or b) doing something else equally stupid somewhere else, or c) both.

After finding the video and watching it...  My takeaway is *this* is why  you want to pay your employees more than $8/hr.  Maybe then they would give a care.  I understand not wanting to risk one's life for a few hundred dollars, but the employee in the video seemed to genuinely 'not care' that he was handing over the loot.

I saw this last night on the news and caught onto the malfunction right away.

I spent the rest of the broadcast mocking the news folks under my breath for not catching it and wondering why neither the robber nor the sandwich kid noticed either. Am I being unreasonable expecting it to be common knowledge that the slide should go fully forward?   :shrug

No.  In fact, it would be better for all the peaceable folks if a few more convenience store robbers were shot.  Those thugs don't just rob the Seven-Eleven.  They also bring burglaries, muggings and carjackings.  Those stupid give 'em what they want and don't resist polices may make the bean counters happy but it attracts violent punks and the people living in the area suffer for it.

At the retail store that I worked at, my manager was one of those types. She was very adamant that "as long as you give them what they want, they'll never hurt you".

I believe that history has shown this to not be the case.

Well, that didn't take long, did it?  Apparently you got your wish, if preliminary reports hold true, albeit in a different venue.

Well, if there's going to be a gunfight I'm all in favor of the bad guys ending up on the losing end of it.   :coffee
