If it wasn't such an expensive, time consuming, legal hassle to buy a new one. We wouldn't need lifetime warranties.

    i'm guessing that more basic models of suppressors will end up costing about what a car muffler runs.
    Fancier stuff may run higher, but a basic "hearing safe" can will be cheap. 
    For this reason I suspect that not all silencer manufacturers  like the HPA.

    I'm pretty sure they all do.  I think the HPA was put out by the ASA.  if a manufacture didn't like, they'd probably make it public.  Just think, with the HPA, there's less regulation  and paperwork needed on the manufacturer side.  Instead of huge margins, they shift toward volume.
