Am I mistaken, or is that an air rifle?

Still, I'm trying to figure out the why...  Interesting outfit, tho.

Yeah, but how many men that post to this board wouldn't drop everything to offer to help her hold it the "right way", hmm?

My problem with that picture is that it's really not funny, if it is a real rifle about to be shot.

Yes, the rifle in the photo is a pellet gun.  Thank heavens.

The video:  A scoped slug gun... and she has a hard time holding it up because its heavy... and they are going to let her shoot it... and they are going to have a guy stand behind her so she can't rock back with the recoil... This is Epic Fail country right there.

For the first picture, I hope that was just a pose.  And thank God it is an air rifle.  (which is still not a toy)

By the way I think that people who don't follow common sense gun safety are as much as a threat to take our RKBA rights away as are the anti-gunners.  It really pisses me off when people do not follow common sense safety measures.  Today I took a little trip to the indoor range and also shooting were a father and two sons.  The father was technically "supervising" his two sons.  But when the younger son was not shooting, he was pointing his gun around with his finger in the trigger.  My buddy whom I was shooting with basically had to tell the little kid to cut the crap.  My own concern was the fact those kids' father failed to obviously instruct them on basic gun safety.  Sooner or later, an accident can occur.

    Bottom Line:
A gun should be always pointed in a safe direction
Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
Keep a gun unloaded until ready to use (Disregard defensive weapons)

If you are religious, adopt a second "religion" : Gun Safety
If you are atheist/agnostic I suggest you take up this religion too.

BECAUSE IF IT WENT OFF AND IT WAS POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION, NO ONE WOULD GET HURT.
CaliforniaThere are many like it, but this one is mine.

Wow ... Thernlund's video. That was STUPID. And it looked like she got her head cracked open over it.
If I saw a guy with a 60cu/ft safe filled to the brim with nothing but Jennings, Lorcins and Hi-Points, I'd look at the guy and say "Right on brother".

Yep, that's an air rifle alright.

On the second one, the video, those guys had to have known what was going to happen. I can't believe some ass like that would allow some poor girl, or anyone for that matter, to split her eyebrow like that. She had a lot of blood pouring from that head wound. Just sick. I doubt she'll ever want much to do with guns ever again.

Not to mention they just lost a shooter and hatched a new anti-gunner who think shooters are the anterior end of a male donkeys anatomy.  Some people really do need to be disarmed and the man who gave her that gun without instruction and the idiot who took and posted the video should be ridden out of town naked, tarred, feathered, and soundly beaten.

Sadly, this isn't even all that uncommon.  How much of it goes on it hard to know, although if you dig through archives of gun boards you'll certainly find plenty of examples.

She could have become a real shooter.  She likely will never pick up another gun.

When I was, oh, 11 or 12, my extended family were out in the country (at a cousin's family farm, IIRC) and the adults were shooting trap.  No hearing protection.  No drinking...they were every one of 'em teetotalers, but the stupidity would have been easier to forgive had they been sloshed.   I weighed about 80 pounds soaking wet.

I was keenly interested in the guns, and one of my relatives thought it would be great fun to hand me....

....a 12 gauge shotgun.  Told me to just hold it up to my shoulder and pull the trigger, and aim at the clay pigeon.  Yeah.  Great idea.  Landed me on my butt, mostly because I was so startled that I backpedalled as the shotgun's recoil hit me, and all the guys thought it was abso-frickin-lutely hilarious.

I was over 50 before I ever picked up another shotgun.  And to this day won't shoot Archerandshooter's 12 gauge.

What I hate, looking at these videos and pix, is that they are all over the 'net, and how they depict all of us as careless loonies.  Makes it a lot harder to get the message out that RKBA includes responsible firearm ownership, that's for sure.
