Folks,
Given the current ammo shortage, please comment on the ammo available in your area, and on line, when you find it, so others may share in the bounty.

In beautiful St. Augustine, FL I just found some Privi Partisan and Sellier and Belot .380 ACP at Ace Firearms on US 1...for about $28 a BOX of 50!

Being on Flex Time I have taken to going in late on Wednesday and hitting the local WalMart at 0730....last week they had a selection heavy in 9mm Luger and .40 S&W I bought two 100 rd boxes of Winchester White Box 9mm 115 gr ball for just under $20 per box. I could have saved a buck buying four boxes of Blazer Brass 9mm, but the loose pack Winchester takes up less room.

The local Gander mountain has a good selection...but the prices are very HIGH compared to WalMart.

Thinking about Blazer...has anyone seen Blazer aluminum case ammo lately? I haven't seen any I can recall in the last year!

I've been gradually seeing more and more around with fewer and fewer limitations on the quantity purchased. Prices are still high, but supply in my part of the world seems to be coming back some.

Cabela's has a ton of .223. I mean like palates of it. And not just Wolf.

I'm going to check out Walmart today.

Vance's in Columbus Ohio has Blazer brass @ $9.99 a box. I called to check availability and was told that it was readily available. They are limiting folks to 1 case. I may go pick up a case, I have a few folks that I have gotten turned on to shooting and they are chomping at the bit. Far be it from me to hamstring a new habit. I believe they also have .223 and 7.62 on sale. Will have to wait until Tuesday to report back, but I am in need of something sharp and pointy, so it is time to go knife shopping anyways. Ammo will just sweeten the deal.

Walmart is usually empty except for bird shot and a variety of expensive hunting calibers. Might see an occasional box of .223 or .22LR. Gander mountain has plenty, but it is way overpriced. I usually buy most of my ammo online anyway. Midway has lots. Prices are a bit high, but if you catch one of the 10% off sales, it's not too bad. Wideners and AIM are good too.

ACADEMY SPORTS just opened a 74,000 sq ft. store here in Decatur Alabama. The official opening is this coming Saturday, but I dropped in Friday and they had plenty of ammo.
I bought 200 rounds 5.56MM. and 80 rounds 7.62X39MM. And that hardly put a little ding in their stock, too!

I just got back from Vances. Had the best salesman, just a great guy. Ended up with 3 new blades and bought a case of 9mm. They had Blazer aluminum for 8.99 a box, 20 limit. The Blazer brass was 9.99. I'm not a reloader, so I saved $20 a case. Was talking to a guy in line, he drove over from PA, 3 hours to buy ammo. The salesman told me they got 3 pallets in of 9mm. I believe the .40 was 13.99? .45 was 15.99. I didn't see any .380, although a friend had to qualify last week and went there and they let him buy 8 boxes. Oh, and they were blowing out police trades- Beretta 96 DAO (.40) for $259.99

Ronin - went there to get a police P239 and they were out, got another 239 with DAO for $400, and yeah, the ammo is back!!

Central/south cetral Florida here. Last time I checked, there was some defense ammunition in local stores. However, there is no .380 ACP, .45 ACP, and .357 Magnum in that category. What is around is pretty expensive, mostly 9MM, .40, and .38 Spl. As far as target and plinking ammo regardless of caliber... tumbleweeds. Shotgun shells are around, but it's pretty much birdshot.

I need to start reloading, have some equipment, just need to get off my arse and buy some components.

Huey- I fondled a FN 9, finally put it down. Then a M&P 9c with the thumb safety, put it down. Then a CZ75b in nickel, almost walked away with that one. It was almost sensory overload. I think my salesman was thankful I kept him out of the rush for so long. How was the crowd when you were there? I got there when they opened and it filled up in 5 minutes. They were 30 numbers down in a few minutes, just hectic. I don't think the 6 months same as cash deal didn't do them any favors.

do you have a shaved head and ear rings? I was there around 10 and there was a guy looking at a FN while I was looking at SIGs. I think we talked for a bit. Yeah, big crowd again with the sale flyer. They had me pay sales tax up front to get the deal, never did that before. If you want to hook up and put a few down range let me know, I have a M&P 40 compact you can try out if you want.

I checked out the local Gander Mountain in St. Augustine, FL. They had .380! Fiocci for $19.95 a box of 50 ball. Remington UMC for $29.95 box of 50 ball. And would you believe $59.95 for 100 rounds of 88 gr HP Remington UMC.

You guys with 380's are getting ripped off. You can reload that stuff for $5 a box, same with 9mm.

Most of the gun shops around here with any kind of ammo have raised their prices by about 30%. Sportsmans Warehouse has put a limit on 380.

The shortage on everything seems to be getting better. I was able to pick up 1K Federal small pistol primers at Sportsmans the other day.

In northern Virginia, WalMart is starting to have .22lr and .44Mag and .45 ACP in very limited amounts. I've noticed that on average, 50 cents per round is the going market price for almost all types of ammo, give or take a few cents.

I was at Walmart last night and while they did not have many of the common calibers, the shelves were noticeably more stocked than they have been.

most of the gun stores here in vermont are really low. A local store in Williston Vermont, The Powderhorn finally got in there back ordered stock from there suppliers. They are flush with ammo now. But .380 is not available from him. Unless you want to spend 24.99 for 50 winchester white bow. they have alot of everything else. depending on what you want it is anywhere between 14.99 to 27.99/ 50 rnd box. Walmart is still short on supplies. They have alot of odd ball stuff, mostly for hunting. When they do get 22lr in it is gone within an hour. They now limit you to 4 boxes of it per shopper.

I stopped by Walmart to pick up some bulk 22. They had none and were out of 9mm and 45. They did have a good stock of 40 which included hollowpoints.

Their stock of shotgun and rifle ammo was pretty good, tons of 22-250.

Saw about ten boxes of 9mm on the shelf at Wal-Mart a couple days ago.
I didn't get any because I already have quite a bit of 9mm, but if I hadn't bought the 1k from Georgia Arms at the last show I'd have bought as many as they'd sell me.

Our local wal-mart has been getting more stuff in recently. I haven't seen bulk .22 for at least 5 months. Good thing I bought a bunch when I did. We've had a steady trickle of 9mm over the shortage and I've been able to keep my stock at about 1k rounds. There's no shortage of 9mm blazer or winchester white box right. There are boxes of 5.56 winchester and 7.62x39 instock now too. The Winchester 5.56 is $10 for a box of 20. The 7.62x39 is $7.xx for a box of 20.

9 mm has been $8.97 for Blazer and $21 for the 100 ct Winchester since november if you could find it.

In another month or two, I suspect the ammo shortage for 5.56 will be mostly over. I've noticed quite a few online dealers now have wolf in stock for $250 per 1k which was pre november prices. I'm still hoping for the day when I can wolf for $150 per 1k, but I'm not holding my breath.

Honestly, I'm not complaining about the prices, especially after reading Ayoob's article on the ammunition shortage and finding out the prices of ammo in the '80s.

Gander Mtn. St. Augustine, FL had .380 this afternoon, Fiocci $19.95, Remington Green Box $24.95, Winchester White Box (flat point ball) $24.95.

I bought 2 boxes (limit) of Fiocci.

As of today in Utah @ ~lunchtime:

Cabela's in Lehi Utah has everything and tons of it, all calibers for factory ammo, brass, primers, bullets, powder, etc. It is all 30% higher than it was last year this time, but they have it. They did limit me to 2 boxes of primers but since they are the only place in Utah that has any in stock, I didn't complain.

Sportsman's Warehouse (All three Wasatch Front locations) has most calibers for factory ammo (except .308), but next to nothing for brass, bullets, and powder. No primers whatsoever (except for .50 BMG.)

Heritage Arms has most pistol caliber factory ammo, but are rationing. Nothing for reloading.

Doug's Shoot'n Sports has limited ammo in the major pistol and rifle calibers. Very bare in the reloading section. I saw a smattering of oddball brass, oddball bullets, some powder, zero primers.

Get Some has all major calibers, limited amounts - or at least that is what they said (they are rationing). Nothing for reloading.

Shooters of Jacksonville FL had bulk pack 500 round Federal 230 gr. ball .45 ACP for $109.99. They also had three kinds of bulk .223 /5.56 which is good again. They also had .38 130gr ball in 500 round half cases. I didn't get all the prices. .380 is still difficult to get.
