AK Battlecomp
« on: March 27, 2014, 11:33:23 pm »
Do they still make battlecomp brakes for the AK platform?  I am finding conflicting information online.

If no, what is the best thing going for an AK muzzle brake?  I am going to be purchasing an under-folding AK, and I figure I need all of the recoil reduction that I can get. :-\

Thanks.

I'll say this: Underfolding AK doesn't kick bad.....in fact the stock is wider than a normal wood stock so it feels less (to me).     A good flash-hider is more important to me plus easier on the ears.

If you do want a good brake, my advice is to get a 14X1LH to 24X1.5RH thread adapter and a true AK74 style muzzlebrake (not the overweight AK74 straight 14X1LH models)..   That's what I used on underfolder for a good while.   As good a thing for cutting recoil as I could find.

It has a wider 'base,' but is concentrated into two small areas.  How would it feel after an 800 round class?  :-\

*shrugs*, I don't think it would be "worse" than a normal buttstock.

I had a Vector underfolder built on a Polish kit and while I did love it as a truck gun (it was pretty much permanently in a hidden compartment in my truck) it did have a tendency to rattle my teeth if the metal stock was slightly out of place when shouldered and during rapid fire.  Those metal stock arms can be brutal to your cheek & teeth if you aren't careful so a good brake is a wise choice.  I had a AK74 type brake and it worked really well without increasing noise and back pressure to the shooter.
