If you think about it historically though man has fought in sandals much longer than in boots.

That said, I'll take a raincheck if an instructor shows up wearing huaraches.  :facepalm

I have tender feet, I will take boots every day.
In fact, I have no sandals or sneakers.

    Yeah, fluff that.

I suppose I feel that way because I'm a thin skinned, non-steely-eyed, weak-kneed poser who will be the first to die when the Russians/Chinese/NorKs/Iranians/Jews/Aliens/Zombies/Sparkly-Vampires/Drug-Cartels invade and/or the Race War finally happens.

Strangely, I'm okay with this. I'll go train somewhere that has a better chance of fulfilling the Prime Directive of firearms training.

I have 3 pairs of boots that I love and 1 pair of Sneakers that I hate.  If I was going to buy another pair of boots, It would be another pair of Danners.
    That being said...

WTF kind of training is that?  That is some serious bullshifting crap right there.  That's dangerous and irre... Well... the dude did just light someone up.

The Russians dig that kind of circus act BS. I'm surprised the students dont have to perform flying  backflips while tossing bullseyes with sharpened e-tools or run a combat course while on fire.

So I'm told that in Russia proper, the circus acts are for show.

Not just someone, his AI. The guy who is also responsible for range safety and keeping an eye on everything while the instructor is engaged in teaching.

    Epic fail.

This is the kind of training they do....? I don't know a single SOF entity or SWAT/SRT entity that uses any of this kind of training. Maybe there is a reason for that....

Yes, Sonny does this stuff in his classes, and below we have James Yeager.

Someone tell me again how great it is to train with these a$$clowns.

Removed the images for page loading sake..and to not get an aneurysm...maybe it's just me...but if I was getting pounded on like that I'm defending against the people pounding on me..not the paper target in front of me.  If the purpose of that training is defend yourself against the crowd...you're training the person to fail because they're not trying to take out the attacker when they train.  In my opinion.  But..I've never been more than moderate speed...and I'm not nearly streamlined enough for low drag....

The sad part is, here in the west we have this gravely mistaken notion that Spetsnaz is like our SF. They aren't. They are roughly equivalent to and airborne infantry unit. They are nothing special. After working with two airborne brigades and a Spetsnaz brigade in the Ukraine, I am so very unimpressed. They have a few units that are similar to our SF, but your run of the mill Spetsnaz is nothing but of organic sandbags on a normal day, our airborne infantry on their absolute best days.

Honestly I have not been impressed with anything Soviet/Russian, including personnel. The West often drums up the hype of Russian/soviet stuff, tactics, units, etc, but by and large, they get a solid "meh" from me except for their aggressiveness.

I just look at that and shake my head.  I understand the need to add "stress" to training to help you better perform while under stress, but that looks absolutely ridiculous. :facepalm  Not only does it look extremely unsafe, but, in my (admittedly unsophisticated) mind, the guy with his arm around my throat is likely going to be the first recipient of my fury and the person further away would be second.

Shooting your AI to add realism?  Well, pretty darn realistic training for blue on blue and first aid, but probably makes it hard to keep the position staffed.

If you want students to be breathless and fatigued when they shoot, would perhaps sprints or squat thrusts suffice?

Or, if you want to get them stressed, tell them they're riding shotgun with Yeager on the way back from lunch.

Ooookay, that was wrong. But notice that I didn't delete it?

What I started to type, before cop humor took control of my thumbs, was that if you want to stress them and do hands on stuff, DO IT WITH AIRSOFT.

I UNDERSTAND that it is not the same as shooting a real gun, but it is about as close as you can get SAFELY. The prime directive of training is that everyone leaves with no new holes. Yeah, stupid human tricks with live ammo might be closer to real combat than stupid human tricks with BBs, but you have to work pretty hard to have to summon EMS when the plastic pellets are in play.

Those simunitions guns are an option too.  Of course that is much more expensive than airsoft.    But if your students are already spending money for a tactical class with your "expert" instruction, charging a little more shouldn't be a problem.

    1.  The ratio of student to instructor was way too high especially for a live fire house at night.  I'd have teams of 2-4 students for brand new people going through a house.  The down time on a class of 42 would be incredibly high.  The class size seems to be way too high.

    2.  When I ran live fire drills in the shoot house you never ran another team thorough without one of the instructors physically walking through the house and making sure everyone was out of it.  You verfiied all the targets were still set up in the same spots too.  At night it was even more critical.

    3.  We debriefed in the shoothouse because you want to show students what they did good and what needed improvement.  If there was additional debriefing after that you went outside and allowed the next group to run through.  See #2!

I cant imagine running through a house at night without a flashlight, without verifying the house is empty as an instructor.  The check is written now it's just a question of how many zeros will be at the end.

For new students I'd much rather train with airsoft or sims in a regular building.  Running teams of people through a live fire  house when they are new to team room clearing and have never worked together is something that has to be very structured and carefully watched.

Yeah, but Sonny was elite Spetznas.  They don't need no stinking lights.
