Las Vegas Simmunition facility open for the public
« on: June 05, 2016, 07:54:50 pm »
Has anyone tried this? I may be in Vegas in a few months and I don't drink or gamble so this might be a good way to burn some off time. I train with Sims quite a lot but this still looks like fun.

Sounds fun, but it looks like they took their advertising cues from EAA judging by the website.   :facepalm

I see what you mean  :facepalm.

Can we please advertise the shooting industry without demeaning women or without making gun owners look like red necks?

After clicking on the link and thinking of EAA adverts of old, it was so sexist and cisgender normative that I now have to tip the scales in our favour.

There. Much better. Women shown in a dignified light, while being absolutely professional as fluff with guns. It does my heart good to see.

Ironically, the lady instructor in the top photo does teach a gun course while carrying small children or.... Something of the sort. It is based in Iowa. From the looks of it, the gentleman with the maternal instincts might have taken her course  ;).

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

". . . cisgender normative . . . "   :scrutiny   I actually had to look that one up.   :facepalm    Now I'm thinking about using it as a tag line under my avatar.

Simunitions would be fun, but $149? Ouch. That's the cheapest match. How long does it last? I can't find that anywhere. And that only includes 40 rounds of ammo. I'm not up on the price of sims, but I wouldn't pay that. I realize paintball isn't quite the same, but it's much cheaper.

Yeah that's pretty steep.   I might consider paying that much if it included a lot of ammo and a few hours of stuff, maybe some larger team exercises.     When you are approaching the cost of a gun for a short 2 person match, that's a tough sell.

Yeah.   There are many female professional shooters that are highly skilled.  They've won competitions and olympic medals and are great ambassadors for the shooting sports.   Feature them in ads,  don't go for the low brow approach.   EAA is probably the worst offender,  but Dillon Precision does the same thing too.  Their photos and models are a little more high class,  but seeing a picture of a woman in a bikini holding an AR-15 has very little to do with me buying a reloading press.

The price is what gets me out of the running sounds like a good time otherwise. But I'd have to know a heck of allot more about what your getting for the price to give a good guess on whether it's remotely worth it.

For force on force I'm going to continue to use airsoft it's much cheaper, and realistic enough at close ranges to work well. Heck for the price they are charging you could buy several gas blowback pistols and gas and ammo and setup your own sim with some buddies and keep the guns. Then the next time you do it your only buying gas and ammo. Coleman tanks are a couple bucks and will feed a gas gun for several thousand rounds, and BB's of good quality run 5,000 for $10. So I'll stick with the much cheaper option;) And if the mood strikes you, you can also use airsoft at the larger "milsim" type of games around the country for an interesting experience.
