Anyone know anything about Chinese Mausers?
« on: January 03, 2013, 05:31:52 PM »
One of the local gun stores has one on the used rack for only $125.  Exterior looks quite well used, but no rust or pitting that I could see, and the bore looks decent - again, no obvious rust or pitting, just looks like it could use a couple passes with a boresnake.  Only obvious major issue is a big crack in the stock from the crossbolt to the magazine

When I go back, if it's still there, I'm going to ask if I can take the stock off to see what it looks like underneath.

I'm really starting to prefer the obviously used milsurps over the pretty ones.  Even with the crack, I'm thinking about buying it, and maybe getting a cheap plastic stock or a sporterized Mauser 98 stock for it I want to shoot it.

I hear that when you shoot one,  you want to go shooting again an hour later.

That's not a bad thing. Most of my guns are like that.  :)
UtahIt doesn't cost me to be nice, but nothing gets you nothing and everything's got a little price.

    What Khorne said.

I pretty much have to shoot a whole 3-gun match to make me not want to shoot again an hour later.

Even then I'm only good for a day or two at most.
