Too much Violence in a Book Collection
« on: August 06, 2014, 01:44:29 pm »
Here are nineteen books from The BLACK LIBRARY.
Three stand alone books, the rest from THE HORUS HERESY collection.
In No Order:  Books listed not in all caps are not Horus Heresy series books, but are still Warhammer 40,000, of course.
MECHANICUM
LEGION
FALSE GODS
GALAXY IN FLAMES
DECENT OF ANGLES
KNOW NO FEAR
BATTLE FOR THE ABYSS
THE FLIGHT OF THE EISENSTEIN
Lord of the Night
Storm of Iron
A THOUSAND SONS
PROSPERO BURNS
BATTLE OF THE FANG
HORUS RISING
DELIVERANCE LOST
Heroes of the Space Marines
MARK OF CALTH
ANGEL EXTERMINATUS
BETRAYER

All told, the amount of death in these books are equal to about 34 Planet Earths, maybe more.  There is more blood spilled in these books than in any other book collection ever.  This amount of violence contained here is enough energy to ignite 7 new suns.  On average there is more action here than in the engines of every action movie ever filmed or will ever be filmed on this world.
CAN YOU HANDLE THIS?
I'm not even sure if I should pass these along... there is too much violence and gore.  These books should be locked in a sturdy airtight crate, bound with chains and sealed with spells of the darkest magics, and watched over by the minions of angry demigods.
Those daring enough... those who are strong enough to rise to the challenge... those with the willpower and the mental fortitude to comprehend the shear magnitude of atrocities in this collection...
Make your offers.

I am in no hurry to part with this collection.
In fact, Im not sure I should... Some books of forbidden knowledge should be kept hidden.
    Kept safe.

34 Planet Earths worth of death and destruction, though.

Are they really that bad George? I'm interested and scared at the shear novelty of such graphicness. I've read some pretty gory books in my day as well.

     :hmm

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.
Ray Chapman, used to say that the 125-grain Magnum load’s almost magical stopping power was the only reason to load .357 instead of .38 Special +P ammunition into a fighting revolver chambered for the Magnum round. I agree. - Massad Ayoob

Some books seem not so bad... then the fights start.   Shockingly brutal.

    You want violence?
    Check this out.
In one of the books, there is an orbital shipyard.  Now, the spaceships in WH40K are MASSIVE.  Just freaking huge.  So this shipyard is a LARGE facility.  These ships have engines that can accelerate these ships to near light speed in just a couple seconds... Very powerful.  Very big, and very powerful.
Well, one of these ships is coming into this Shipyard... and it's sabotaged.  As it's getting close, just slowly closing in... The main engines fire up to full power.  Before anything can be done on the bridge - the ship plows into the shipyards like a missile.  This causes a chain reaction of explosions, secondary explosions and destroys the whole of the shipyards.   In Orbit.
Soon ships and sections of the docking structures and all the men and equipment start raining down on the planet.
    Tanks.
    It rains tanks.
Everyone up in orbit is obliterated in nuclear fire, shrapnel and the vacuum of space... Hundreds of thousands of workers.  Then as debris from this falls... it kills hundreds of thousands of people on the planet surface.
All from one stuck gas pedal.

That was what, 10 pages or so?

One of the kids had an extra kidney.
    I'm flush with cash now.
Bid $40.  (low, but I figure someone else will swoop in and bid more)

    $40, plus shipping.

No, I did not outbid myself.  I just couldn't edit my original post.
Nothing to see here.  Move along.
