WTT: Springfield Mil Spec 1911
« on: May 12, 2014, 06:27:03 pm »
Now that the weather is warmer, I am looking once more at refining my collection into guns that I will actually shoot.  One of my many faults, is I am not the biggest fan of 1911s. :hide

With that in mind, I would like to trade mine for something that I will get more enjoyment out of. :)

Springfield MilSpec in stainless steel.  It has been cut for Novak sights, and currently has 2011-marked Trijicon night sights installed. (much better sight picture than standard GI sights)  Long trigger, extended safety, and overall action job were performed by a licensed gunsmith - I have not screwed around with the internals, myself. (Probably a good thing. ;))

Here is what can be included:

Gun, case, two mags, two sets of grips, belt holster, mag carrier, (as came with the gun) and two Wilson mags.

Make me an offer!  I am most interested in a mid-size glock, Sig P220, or a decent-to-good quality AR upper, but will consider any offer that is presented.  Trades can be plus cash on either end, or can be straight across.

Thanks for considering! :)

MilSpec is probably one reason you're not a fan of 1911's. A beavertail safety makes all the difference in the world.

Hmm,  any interest in FAL stuff?   I have a few parts kits and receivers I still haven't got around to building.

How does a beavertail help?  I've shot 1911's with those and haven't noticed a huge difference.

My problem with 1911's (had 3, down to my cheapo High Standard/RIA) and they are just a little thin for me.

Also, I found that I REALLY prefer the flatback rather than the A1 grip strap.

Depends on your hands for mine without its removing skin. Used to not be a problem but my hands from holster making are much meatier than before.

If you like a thick grip try the hogue wrap around grips or a p14;)

I know this.  It is a big difference.  I still don't like 1911s.  For one thing, whereas a BHP fits my hand as perfectly as I have found, a 1911 is too long (deep?) in the grip, because of the .45acp cartridge.

Life is too short for guns that don't fit your hand. ;)

It spreads the recoil out over a wider area, and allows you to get a higher grip.

Unfortunately, not really.  My available shooting area has a hard limit of 25m, and so battle rifles don't hold much interest to me.  Due to the local terrain, I just wouldn't be able to realize their advantages.  Not like in Kansas. ;)

XDM .40 w/3 mags and a holster and mag carrier (if I remember right it's a double) from White Dog Holsters? I still have the factory gear and case as well.

Sorry, but no thanks.  That is a fair offer, but XDs and XDMs just don't appeal to me. :shrug  Thanks for considering, though.
