PA: Used - Century Arms C93 - $575 Shipped
« on: January 01, 2012, 07:55:13 pm »
For sale, is my Century C93:

Included, is the rifle, four 40rd magazines, top mounting rail, cheek riser, extra stock, bayonet (not shown) and original carry handle. (not shown)

The FCG has been to Williams Trigger Specialties, where they performed their 'standard' trigger job.  This turned the trigger from 'horrendous HK trigger,' to 'reasonable military rifle trigger.'  Believe me, if you have ever felt a stock HK trigger, you will appreciate this upgrade.

I bought it new, and have fire approximately 400 rounds through it.  It did have a few malfunctions, when I first got it, and when I confronted the dealer, it was determined that I had wiped all of the grease off, and had not re-lubricated the bolt.  :facepalm  It likes to be 'run wet,' and I have had no malfunctions since I introduced it to slipstream.  All of the ammunition that I fired was new production, brass cased, non-corrosive.

The top rail is a 'low mount' design.  When using a red dot sight, it is best to remove the cheek piece. (Just pops off)  If you want to use a higher-mounting scope, just pop it back on...

Yes, I know that it's a Century, and they do not always have the best reputation, but think of it this way: I have already tested it out, so if any problems were to come up, hopefully they would have, by now.

Also:
$500 - the cost of a NIB C93, with one mag (plus shipping)
$100 - what one would easily spend on three extra magazines
$85 - the cost, including shipping, of the Williams trigger upgrade
$30 - top rail scope mount
$45 - cheek piece
$760

$575, or $760?  If you have any interest in buying an HK 93 clone, this is the time to act!

Thanks for looking!

Also: Seeing as cash might be tight, as we just got through the holidays: give me your word that you'll take it, give me a deposit of $100 'earnest money,' (for which you will get a receipt) and I'll hang on to the rifle for a couple months, while you get the cash together.

Hopefully this helps someone.  :)  Mephisto, I was typing as you posted.  ;)

Okay, here's the deal: If anyone wants it, the price has been reduced to $500, shipped.  Must be able to pay for it at once.

I am going to a gunshow on Saturday, and if it does not sell by then, I will take it to the show, and sell it for whatever I can get.  That said, I would prefer to sell it to someone I 'know.'

Everything that was listed in the original package is still included.

    Thanks for looking.

What's your shipping costs/method? Flat rate, or actual? Has it mangled any brass with the fluted chamber?

Price includes shipping to your FFL.

Has it mangled any brass with the fluted chamber?
That depends upon your defenition of 'mangled.'  It does put a dent in the brass:

Is that what you mean?  I think it occurs when the casing hit something in the gun during extraction.

One thing it does, because of the fluted chamber, is leave the brass filthy.  Not sure how much that would inhibit re-loading, but it is worth mentioning.

    More like the above.

I'm too lazy to reload, so your picture doesn't really but me. However, I might hold my example as a cause for concern.

:shocked  That looks more like fluted ammo being fired in an unfluted chamber, to me.  Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can chime in?

*nods* The dinged brass pic Kaso posted doesn't concern me - I do not (yet) reload.

The pic Atlas posted concerns me.

If I had cash free, I'd feel comfortable partaking - but I am in need of both a new roof, and a new car.  Neither of the two leave much free cash.  :(

The pic Atlas posted concerns me.

That's the result of (way) too little bolt gap in a roller delayed blowback action. It's one of those things to watch out for in HKs and CETMEs, and especially in those assembled by Century.

See this post for all I know regarding bolt gap: https://wethearmed.com/rifles/got-me-a-cetme-hankerin%27/msg233444/#msg233444

By the looks of Kaso's brass, the gun being sold is good to go.

I carried an HK53 for years. I saw plenty of brass like Kaso posted. I never saw any look like Atlas's picture.  I think the casing hits the front of the port while it's being ejected.

In my defense...I'd seen a number of article online with similar picture of shredded brass like the picture I cited.
I was NOT accusing Kaso. I was trying to cover my own bases. I've been burned in the past.

I have no experience dealing with our respected member Kaso, but I have been been burned in the past (bought a CETME with parts to worn it was a straight pull bolt action)

Would just like to say, I've bought a pistol from Kaso and he's good people.  I'd buy from him again without hesitation.

And with your word, I might be willing to (*very deep sigh*) take a chance.

Is the rifle still available? (and to be nice and apologize for my accusations, if it's not too bad I'll PAY SHIPPING TOO)

If it sounded accusatory I didn't mean it that way. I was typing a quick response on my phone.

I never saw an HK shred brass like that but I've never shot a CETME either.

Another point I forgot to add was my 53 kicked 5.56 brass out at a 45 degree angle to the right front. The brass carried about 30 feet.  I always figured it got the dents coming out of the port.

Rep and close examination of the photos are things you should always consider when doing a private sale.  That and be sure to meet in the dark at some long empty commercial property to make the transaction with cash in hand.

Hey folks, got some good news for y'all and bad news for me...
I'm outta the running for this rifle.  :banghead  The college semester is starting soon and finances for me are no longer looking to be what I anticipated, planned, and hoped.

So...I'm a douche and a jerk. Send Kaso a (respectable) offer!

I wish I could.   $500 is a heckuva a deal for a C93 tht's been pre-tested (this and Cetmes are two guns I'd RATHER buy used from a reliable guy than new).   Heck I even want one.

Just got other stuff I want more :(
