It would be awesome if car manufactures did the same thing some firearms manufactures do and just say "fluff it, we wont sell our s___ in California"

I disagree with the "let's not sell anything to CA" mentality because I feel that it hurts more than it helps gun owners (a minority in this state), but everyone drives cars. That might do something...

I think pretty much all of the FedGov's VIP-type vehicles are black, at least stateside. (I think the ones used by Generals McChrystal and Rodriguez when I was in Af-stan were metallic dark grey)

I'll bet whatever vehicle Governor Moonbeam gets ferried around in is black as well.

Three year old story, bro, but yes, CARB is an insidous cancer. And their nuttiness spreads like a disease to the rest of the country.

We've got CAFE and the EPA that is just absolutely killing us with ridiculous s___. It's not about saving the environment...it's about control.

To be fair, this is exactly the reason I refuse to buy a black car: here in GA, summer heat gets to 100+ degrees... add in our humidity, and you've got absolute roaster days.

Add a black exterior and a black interior to that (if you're dumb enough to not get window tinting), and you have a car that gets so hot when it's left out in the sun that you spontaneously combust when you get in it.

Or at least immediately dehydrate like a raisin. It's ugly.

But yes, mandating something that should be common sense is... sad.

Mandating ANYTHING is wrong, and outside the legitimate powers of government. Forbidding certain things, while undesirable, is sometimes neccessary to maintain order - but mandating is only, ever about control.

Yeah, I hadn't realized that this was three years old. I still almost lost it when I saw this s___ last night. CARB's primary function is to fluff over the people of California.

I'd like to possibly major in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly.

I believe you. A point of advice: Don't major in something that is going to tie you to California. Is there a market for Industrial Technology in Free America? I really don't know, but you should find out.

IIRC, I read somewhere that something like 40% of all college graduates wind up in career paths that aren't at all related to what they studied in school.

I'll put it to you guys this way:

Last year I was shooting some emails back and forth from a guy on Calguns. We were discussing the IT program at Cal Poly and he told me that graduates from his class were hired at places ranging from Foster Farms to defense contractors. IT is like Industrial Engineering, but more business oriented than math. Better for me like that.

But once he told me how general and broad this thing was, this was my reaction:

I know you have mentioned wanting to get into firearm design. It may be a good idea to, either before or after school, go to a CC that has a well respected gunsmithing program. Lassen isnt to far from you (but I still want to see you get out of Cali.)

*raises hand* My degree's in journalism (specializing in radio production and station management), and I'm a sysadmin.

Hell, my sister has her Ph.D. in marine ecology, and she's the director of parking and transportation at another college. She took what she learned about competition for resources, and applies it to her work.

So yeah, just because it's your major, doesn't mean it's your career path.

Industrial tech is basically building assembly lines. Focus on lean manufacturing and micromanufacturing if you do that. The age of the giant corporation with plants the size of Central Park is limited, now that the cost of building smaller, more flexible manufacturing is coming down.
