One comment.

When I read the forum I commonly go to the unread posts page, then control-click each link to open it in a new tab.  It seems since the "joining" Chrome uses more CPU per WTA tab than it used to.  The fan will light up now if I open 8-10 WTA tabs, where before I don't recall that happening.

Since I can't really benchmark before and after performance this could just be thoughts I am having since I can't wear my tinfoil hat all the time.

Does it do that for other sites too?  Seems like that would more likely be a chrome issue.

It does.  Typically quite often forum sites that are heavily ad laden.  Full size bronco is one that I read very sparingly as a result.

And such sites are a problem in any browser.  I tend to be very power conscious, so I notice when I hit a web page that eats CPU.

I haven't noticed on my computer.  But generally I only have 5-6 WTA pages open at a time.  However I usually have about 15-20 other work related sites open at the same time. Haven't noticed any performance hit.

This is not debilitating in any way.  More fan noise is all.  And, in fairness I am noticing the fan noise more since MS pooched something in the latest Outlook for Mac release and it runs 50% of one core everytime I send an email until I restart the program.

I could also be seeing ghosts.  Like I said, don't have my foil hat on.

My only suggestion to our new second media overlords would be not to require us all to change our passwords to new, more secure standards.  They did that on another gun forum I belong to, that did not have a security problem, and chaos ensued for weeks as people were unable to log into their old accounts, change the passwords, etc.

Ha almost word for word my suggestion as well. There were two times I saw this before. I will say he mentioned after my post that they did not plan to do that.

    Take care

Darcy and her team aren't overlords by any means, dealt with them before, decent people.

The one I dealt with from 2M was Darcy, never met a Phillip.

Lies.  He planted Philip as a distraction, and had "dirt" on Darcy.  2M is merely a front for his quest for Global Domination.

I visit here every once in a while now. Mostly for the creative writing section.

I do have a concern I wish addressed.

Since many of us are writers and aspiring writers, do we still own our contributions here or do they now belong to the Second Media Group?

The TERMS seem rather explicit that all content is copyright to WTA, and thus Second Media Group.
    Would someone clarify please?

    Thank you.

I will wait to hear SMG's answer, but to my understanding the simple answer is: You own your story/content/material, and SMG owns the forum post.

To say it a different way, George owns the story and IP of Uprising, and I own a copy of the book.  I can do what I like with the Book, however I want to, but I don't have any rights to the contents.  I own the pages, but the author retains ownership of the story and ideas.  A forum post is the same way.  The forum owner owns the digital 'pages' of the story, and can do or not do whatever pleases them with those digital pages...  But it is still your story, not theirs to publish or sell.

That's how I always understood it as working. :shrug

Your content is still your content.
You own it, you may publish it again as you see fit. Posting here only grants us the right to publish your content here. We do not claim an ownership of your posted content, will not sell your content to a third party and will not stop you from re-publishing and sharing your own content. The only time we would go after anyone is for example; someone random scraped a portion of the site's public data and published it elsewhere. We may then file a DMCA complaint to have the stolen content removed.
I hope this made some sense. If you have more questions on this I am happy to help answer them.

This was my understanding as well but I didn't know how to explain it.  As mentioned, you own your ideas and what you posted.
