Not bad, an hour and a half or so from where I will be working.

I am apparently only a hour away from Hedgesville, wv. So would try my best to make it as long as I can get off work for the day.

Well, if we count everyone who expressed interest, we have over a dozen.   :clap  ...So, we'll probably have at least 8-10.   :-\

Okay, we need to get the ball moving, here.  Are there any objections to moving the date to the 16th of June?  If none are given, (and maybe even if some are) we can call it official.  :)  I'm all spooled up for this.  I can't wait!

I'll try to make it. I forgot that I'm going to Nova Scotia the first week of July (family/clan business.) It might be a little to close for me to get off in relation to my schedule, thing is I won't know until the week before. :hmm

Okay, bad news:  My status just went from 'definitely in,' to 'maybe.'  As in, long shot odds.  :facepalm

I will do everything that I can, to make it happen, (and if I attend, I still intend to foot the lunch bill) but to give my word, at this point, won't do anyone any favors.  :shrug

I'm still in the running - don't count me out - but someone else is going to have to be the ramrod.  Sorry, guys.  I feel bad.  :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

Some cursory checking shows that I'm priced out of this thing.  Next time maybe.

I'm going to try out the range I mentioned upthread, and check with them about groups, limitations, etc.

I was thinking maybe early October/late September, after the summer heat dissipates, for a South East get together?

With some notice to set it up, I can arrange just about any Saturday as a get together.  When the local ARfcommers get together it is always a good time.  Whenever I've set it up in the past, everyone shooting does so at a very discounted rate.  I was thinking $20/day for this get together.  :thumbup1

Ok, So then we've settled on the 16th. Obviously we won't be able to get a date that suits everyone, but that seems to be the date that most people so far have said that works.

    The location is here: http://www.tangodownrange.com/

FSCJedi and Simms65 are our range contacts.

    Range FAQ's:
FSCJedi: Most calibers welcome. No super-large stuff just because the steel won't handle it. Steel cased ammo is fine, steel core is not (again, for the steel plates). Being your own ammo, by all means. We do have ammo available on site, but you'll pay a convenience premium for it. No capacity or rapid fire limits. We bring full-auto toys out to play all the time. Minors under the age of 18 (I believe) must be accompanied by an adult. Other than that, just come ready to have fun. We've got plenty of steel to shoot at (LOTS more than the website pics show).

Eye and ear pro is available, but I'm not sure about any associated costs. Cameras are encouraged! :-)
Simms65: I should probably clarify a couple things.

-There is no prohibition on ANY type of ammo as long as AP is not fired at our steel.  M855 style ammo is NOT AP. We have lower grade steel on the pistol side, so rifle caliber center fire stuff is not allowed on the pistol steel.
-We have loaner eye protection, at least ~10 pairs, and we give earplugs to anyone who needs them.  If we have it to provide, basic safety stuff isn't charged for.
-Video and still photography is encouraged, especially if you throw it up on Facebook and tag the range.  If someone asks you not to photograph them and you do anyway, you may be asked to leave.
-There are no prohibitions on caliber or fire rate as long as you are safe.  Any blatantly purposeful safety violations will result in being asked to leave.

Cost: $20 for the day possibly. To be confirmed...

Here's the list of people so far in this thread that said that they would be interested in attending.

That's 19 total. I know some people are not sure at this point. I'd like to get confirmation from you in this thread that you will be attending and number of guests if applicable. and I'll edit the list and bold your name once you've confirmed you can make it. I would like to give the range (Simms65) as much notice as we can for this and consolidate the list and plans in a central location. Post up if you know you will be attending. It would be good to have the attendance list nailed down pretty good by the end of the month at the latest.

We will also need to decide on a time. Given some of the distance people are driving, I'd suggest no earlier than 10 am. We can plan on just meeting at the range at that time and any late comers can join up as they get in.

Some signs at the range as well as name tags/moniker tags would be helpful to let us know who we are from the board.

Any other thoughts, feel free to post them. I'll try to keep things organized and post relevant info as we go. I'll add to this post, updated it and repost it in this thread as more info comes in.

I'll commit to the 16th.  Since this will cost a bit to rent it, if something comes up that requires me to back out later, I'll make sure that my cost for range makes it despite my absence.

Maybe move it to the announcement board?

I can tentatively commit to the 16th of June right now. I'll know for certain once I talk to my manager. That will (hopefully) happen by Saturday.

As long as Jim is working the east coast at that time (I don't see him anywhere but) we are in for the 16th. So that is Us, 2 kids(mid teens) and potentially our best buddy so 4-5 total.

Call it $20/person.  The decision has been made.  I'll arrange this with the owner of Tango Down (Jim for future reference).  I may not be there, but I'll make sure everything is set up for you guys!

Bringing lunch for the range staff is always looked upon kindly if anyone is feeling generous.  :thumbup1

The official date is June 16th!

If anyone wants to check out pictures we have a bunch on our FB page... http://www.facebook.com/TangoDownRange
