State flags on signature lines
« on: November 30, 2011, 12:17:53 PM »
Have a look at my signature.  See the flag off to the right?  Want one for your state?  YOU GOT IT!

A new feature just added.  Simply go to Profile --> Forum Profile.  At the bottom of the dialog is a box to choose your home state.  Once chosen, a flag icon will be placed in your signature.

Whaa-la!

Enjoy!

I have to agree Sarge. I used to live over in Macon county, Beautiful area. I worked at the casino YEARS ago. There is some really pretty sight seeing to do over there. I would love to get back to that area again.

Amen, Caryn. Raptor Clan went on a vacation to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park last summer and we loved it. That part of the country is absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to go back. I'd move down there in a heartbeat if I could, and if NC wasn't doing it's hardest to become Dixie's verision of Massachusetts.

I LOVE visiting NC...I don't think I would wanna move back. I have come to realize it is too hot, and I have a greater need for seasons than it can give me. It WAS a great change in 1999 when I moved there from Upstate NY though. MUCH more relaxed gun laws, better weather. It was nice to wear shorts in December. (Although..I wore shorts yesterday in PA)

Yeah, the PRNK, as strangelittleman refers to NC, worries me most times as its led by that mad genius/ super crook Bev Purdue, but it still has a conservative base regarding guns. The castle doctrine just passed into law here and includes cars and businesses as well as homes. Small victories like that give me hope...well that and living so far from the Holy City aka Raleigh make the WNC mountains a great place to live.

Yeah, I'm so embarassed of NC that I'm going to put the flag of Texas on my sig line......As a matter of fact, at work, I sometimes sneak over to the flag pole early in the morning and turn the NC flag upside down so that from a distance it looks like the Texas flag :rotfl

I hate to rain on the party, but those flags are tiny.  Could they be made a little bigger, or are they set?  Arizona's is easy, as are some others, but all of the dark blue flags are hard to discern at that size. (You have to hover the mouse over the flag to find out.)

    Just a suggestion.

They'd have to be huge before you could tell Nebraska from New Hampshire from Kentucky, etc. Let it be a lesson to you all those lazy-ass states that think slapping your seal on a field of blue makes a good flag.

No.  We don't want the signature to distract from the main content of forum.  You may notice at some point that the signature block is limited in height and content length.  Same reason.  We don't want to be one of those boards where people are putting full photo albums worth of crap in their signature.  It distracts from the board.

NO! Absolutely not.  ...and thank you.  :)

Cool! Only thing that would make it better would be if the state's name showed up when you hovered your cursor over the flag . . . I'm horrible with recognizing state flags.

True that.  I only know where their from because I've been on this board a long time and know the "regulars".

Hell, I know your flag because I buy ammo from PSA.  lol

It does in IE.  But that's a browser function, and it shouldn't do it besides.  Violates standards.

Hmm. I'm using IE, but it doesn't do it for me.

EDIT: It works if I enable Compatibility View. Thanks.
