April 2015: Central Ohio WTA Meet-Up / Shoot
« on: August 11, 2014, 10:31:03 pm »
Yes, you read that right - April 2015 - eight months out.  That's so there are no excuses about vacation time or prior notice.  :neener

Coronach and I would like to put on some type of WTA meet-up next spring, but we need your help!   The event will ideally be held in the vicinity of Columbus, Ohio, and would most likely be on a weekend.  We want to be able to rent out a small range, (so it is cheap, and we have it all to ourselves) and invite any and all WTAers who can make it to come.

This is where you come in: If you live in Ohio, or any part of an adjoining state that is within driving distance, please indicate your interest in this thread.  There is no set date, so we can move it a bit if it allows for more participation - but we definitely need to make it 'firm' soon, so those who need to schedule vacation well in advance can give their boss their availability.

Remember:  We can't get anything put together, unless YOU say you'll come.  No participants means No Event!

Looking forward to seeing this take off.  :thumbup1

Color me very interested indeed! I should be able to make it, but I can't commit quite yet. Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm being flaky again. It depends on if I get the promotion I'm putting in for at work, and if I do, how it will affect my vacation time. I'm 99% sure that it won't be an issue either way, but I'll let y'all know for once I know for sure.

And I'll try to have my AR-15 by then too.  ;)

I'm investigating a couple of range options, one of which allows camping on-site (pro!) and no bathroom facilities (con!). If you're not interested in THAT primitive, it is within easy driving distance of hotels/motels. The good news with that one is that I'm pretty sure we could rent it out and have it all to our maniacal selves.

    I'm in....

I belong to the Zanesville Rifle Club, the range is in the Blue  Rock State Park south if Z'ville near Duncan Falls.  Its got a campsite and a 200 meter range complete with target pits.  I can bring guests so that is a possibility.

Another might be meeting at the State Range at Deer Creek and then having dinner at the lodge in tne park.

On a lark, I took a look at the list of states that reciprocate with AZ for CCW Permits, and a map.  I could ride/drive all the way without having to go into a single state that doesn't.  Depending on how things go, I might make this one, just for the hell of it.  :thumbup1

Okay, I got figured out what I needed to get figured out regarding vacay time, so I am definitely in, funds permitting of course.  ;)

Question: could we possibly bring guests? I can think of a few buddies of mine (including one who might be a registered member of the forum, though I don't think he's posted at all) who might like to come.

    That's part of the problem.

In all seriousness it's just too many variables. I may be quitting my job to become self employed next spring, we are planning a vacation, I have to get the garden planted, that's right around turkey season... Just a lot of stuff going on. But I will be watching this thread with great interest.

I'd "like to".....see how work and life goes, I really can't tell 8 months in advance.

Early/mid-april I can usually scrape off a few days.

If it could be the first or third week in April I'd only have to take 2 days off and it's about a 10 hour give or take from Georgia...I think

One thing for people to keep in mind (If it'll help....it'll help me).....Camp perry CMP store is nearby.

No clue if they'll have guns in stock again or not  :shrug  Their notice has been up for almost two years that they won't have field or service grade guns in stock in their stores.   May still have '06 ammo though, I don't know.
