Are your Texas holsters as rigid as a kydex holster? Will it stay open for easy reholstering?

I would say it depends on the thickness of kydex, well and the configuration of the holster but in general probably not as rigid, but on the other hand they do generally stay open plenty well for one handed reholstering. I would say the standard rigs might be around .06 kydex or so, leather lining makes them a little stiffer than that. Most kydex holsters are .08 but some of the rigs marketed as "thin" etc tend to be .08, really I think that any advantage in comfort from the "thin" rigs has less to do with thickness, and allot more to do with the ability to have some flex. That said, you shouldn't have a problem with the mouth closing up on ya;)

My Texas rig is as basic as Luke makes them. One thickness of leather, no exotics, no lining. Never had a problem with re-holstering. In fact, I usually put the holster on empty, and put the gun in after my belt is buckled. It definitely stays open.

I'm just trying to decide between a texas holster and a minotaur or supertuck. Sounds like a Texas will work just great.

I'm personally a fan of the all leather rig style, I actually built some hybrids, harm actually has one or had one. I just didn't like them as much as the Texas holster, they were allot easier to make though ;D Everyone though has their own opinion on what works but for most guys so far the Texas has been a good choice.

I always put the holster on empty, then add the gun for both of my Texas holsers. Never had a problem not being able to reholster. I do spend time each week running drills drawing from the holdsters also, so my guns are in and out several times per week. The holsters just work well, even after months of wear, and I wear one or the other most days,  they only get more comfortable but retention is the same a nice tight fit for the gun, I ride motorcycles and 4 wheelers, haven't lost a pistol yet. LOL.

Can't wait to see  my Crossroads holster.

Somewhere in my email is a guy's story about crashing and going over the handlebars of his bike and his gun was still in place in one of my holsters ;D They do pretty good for retention once you get them broke in, sometimes though it does take a little bit to get them broken in to where you're able to draw the gun properly;) But once you get that squared away they work pretty dang good;)

Steve your Crossroads is coming up here shortly, I think you're going to be payment requested probably in the next week or two(Sarah has been helping with some of that, so I'm not sure what dates she's doing what there, and since she's still working at the hospital she's on the next few days;) But looking at the list you aren't far off;) We'll get you a fancy OWB yet;)

that's fantastic news. I really don't mind the wait, quality takes time. Glad to hear you're that busy congrats on your success. I know it will continue as more people try your products. I have the pic of my tan holster and mag carrier as the backgroud on my home computer. The other day I had a tech from a phone company there to fix an issue and he saw it, well by the time he left one of your cards went with him, he's having trouble finding holster he likes. I showed him the real one also, he was excited at that point.  If you can call me before you start mine I may have a change and a matching mag holder addition. Take care.

I just received photos of my new Adams holsters for my Kahr CW-40 w/Crimson Trace lasers installed. Click on the links below to see. I will include photos of the holsters with weapons when USPS gets the items to me. Thanks Luke for the excellent product and understanding what I was after. :clap

Here are some photos of my new holsters from Luke Adams. They are for a Kahr CW-40 pistol equipped with a Crimson Trace laser. Put the left hand OWB on today and it feels like I have been wearing it for months. Thanks Luke. Now i will be waiting on my shoulder rigs.

I forgot as well that I hadn't posted this right handed PF9 rig that I built out of some scrap a little while ago. I was looking for a way to carry my PF9 in my right pocket some days in this hot Arizona weather;) So I looked at what I had for scrap laying around, had some 5-6oz. and some small full quill ostrich as well as a bit of smooth ostrich hide that's pretty much almost a byproduct. So I did full coverage hide, front and rear because ostrich is quite thin, then ran the leather basically grain towards the gun, which gave me basically a leather lined double exotic pocket holster. And as a perk this was scrap from my 1911 holster I carry;) So now they kinda match;)

One odd thing with this rig is there wasn't a normal place to stamp it, so the AH stamp is actually on the inside of what could be called the sweat shield. It's a nice little rig for coming from my scrap bin;)

    Take care!

agreed,  after the wife and I talked about it for awhile before I placed my order with Luke.   we decided to go with basic black instead of any exotic or pretty trim or leathers.   No one else will ever see these except for myself and family anyway, so.   .   .   .   .

now, If I ever choose to go with open carry, OWB,  then . . .  :hmm

Well I once upon a time thought that I would never have an exotic holster, then I said no IWB exotics, now I just plain love exotics;) It's just something about each one being unique and the texture that is just plain interesting and fun;)

I always make the comparison to women and lingerie, most times no one else is going to see it but you ;D

See that's why you gotta get her a fancy holster, then she can get excited by that rig....

Well maybe that's another thread, reminds me of someone talking about the Hoppes #9 smell being an aphrodisiac;)

Well guys and gals just finished another interesting one today, little different in color scheme. Brown elephant trim with a natural holster and black stitching.

I like the end results, but I love natural holsters for some reason too;)

Is that Special Edition similar to the one you're doing for Crusader? Saw that one on Gundoc's blog, but haven't seen it here.

Yep:) There is going to be more details coming soon, I'll let Joe release things though as we get this setup;)

It's also related to my OWB loops for the Texas holsters that I've been eluding to, since they are coming out shortly as well. Also you can get a chance to toy with some of that Saturday as well;) I plan to bring a fair collection of my personal rigs out to the shoot, and some prototypes etc so at least there should be some things for guys to poke and prod along with trying if they'd like;)
